Only when Abigail had fallen back into the pillows, completely exhausted, Natasha left the room and went to the fitness area. On the spot, she ran into Steve who was hitting one of the punching bags and already looked pretty beat up. "Rogers," she drew attention to herself and stepped closer to him. Addressed punched one more time against his opponent made of artificial leather and then opened his gloves. "You should never leave a conflict unspoken, and there is one between us," Widow continued, now standing just a few steps from his back. "The thing with Pietro was a pure misunderstanding. There was nothing going on and there never will be," Natasha assured him, reaching for his upper arm to turn him to face her. She didn't even know why her colleague even cared so much with whom or what she had or didn't have. "It doesn't bother me at all. You can do whatever you want and with whomever you want," Steve replied, turning to face his smaller one. "If you don't mind then I don't understand your problem."
"Natasha there is no problem!" he exclaimed upset and removed her hand taking a few steps back and placing the boxing gloves on a table. "Then why are you being so distant with me?" They both gave each other a long look and paused in their eye contact. It bothered him a lot and he couldn't deny his strong feelings for a long time. Just the idea of seeing his colleague with someone else sent him into a rage. However, he could not explain this to her. How could he. He would only destroy all their trust and everyone knew how difficult it was to make Natasha Romanoff trust you. Someone would come along and make her happy in a way he couldn't. Sometimes he really wished he could hate her. Steve had tried, he had tried to use her past as a reproach, but it was just impossible. Just the way she treated Abigail but also all the other people she cared about prevented him from ever even remotely hating her. His heart knew the truth long before his head understood it. But he had sworn to himself that he would not fall in love again.
