Summary- When Emma brings her boyfriend to dinner with her parents, shit hits the fan. (I know that Emma's parents are divorced but just deal with it for a second or two)

Emma's POV-

So, my parents have been asking non-stop for my boyfriend to come and visit them again for dinner as they seem to love him more than they love me (at least that is how I see it) but I guess it's better than my dad threatening to murder him, so there's that.

Y/N is seriously allergic to dairy so I've always told my mum to not give him anything that has dairy products in it, she completely understands and has been using non-dairy alternatives which Y/N really appreciates her doing for him. My mum does this amazing non-dairy butterscotch tart that even I have to say is really good. It has coconut milk instead of cow's milk and I have to admit that I have indulged in a slice of two since me and Y/N have been dating.

So this evening, we arrive at the house that I lived in as a child to find my parents waiting at the door for me and Y/N with warm smiles on their faces. They greet us with hugs and kisses on the cheeks.

"You two have arrived just on time, I was about to serve up dinner." Mum enthusiastically states, clasping her hands together.

"Amazing, I am starving, you don't need any help in the kitchen, Mrs Watson?" Y/N smiles back.

"You are too kind, you really have a good one, my darling! I would be grateful for some help" Mum and Dad lead us inside with Y/N and Mum disappearing into the kitchen as me and Dad head into the living room.

Y/N's POV-

Emma's mother and father are some of the nicest people that I have ever met, from the second that she introduced me to them, they welcomed me into their house and seemed to accept me into the family in no time. I help Mrs Watson with the dinner and get a whiff of the delicious looking butterscotch tart in the oven, it's almost tradition that when they invite us over for dinner that we have this dessert, it wouldn't feel the same without it.

We get into a conversation about how life and how me and Emma's relationship is going. I can't complain, I really have the best girlfriend in the world, although I might be biased.

Soon enough, we are tucking into our meals for the evening, the crisp roasted potatoes are tender and delicious, you just cannot get enough of a roast dinner on a Sunday.

(But we all know that I would rather indulge in a slice of the woman sitting next to me, if you get what I mean)

Dinner is finished rather quickly with me and Mr Watson just chatting about the typical manly stuff that you would expect like sports, work etc. We both like the same football team and have a lot of the same interests so no wonder why he considers me his own son at this point (even if that is a bit weird to think about and I shudder at every thought).

We tuck into the desert, savouring it's delicious flavours when something starts to happen to me, I turn to Emma's mother and ask "What brand of coconut milk did you put into this?"

All three of them stop dead in their tracks as Emma and I both look at her as my throat starts to swell and I feel my breathing slowing down. My girlfriend snaps into panic mode as Mr Watson heads to call the ambulance as Emma grabs my epi-pen and injects into my thigh.

The swelling stops and I feel like I can breathe again as I mutter as I feel my heart rate stop beating a million times per second "Bloody hell."

The ambulance arrives not long afterwards and I get checked out at the hospital where they find that I'm going to be perfectly fine. I'm not that upset at Mrs Watson for this because shit happens but I can't help but feel a bit hurt by the fact that she seemed to forget and used cow's milk instead.

I can see the pain on her face when she comes to visit next, Emma seems to be less than happy to see her which I don't understand. She knows that it was a bloody accident, she knows that her mother would never try to do something like that unprovoked so there must be some deep-seated problems that I don't know about.

"Y/N, I can't say it enough but I'm truly sorry for what happened." She apologizes and I nod my head.

"I'm not upset, I know that it was an accident, I forgive you for what happened and just hope that it doesn't happen again."

"Promise me, it will never happen again." I can see the sincerity in her eyes but at the same time, I can see Emma giving her a bad look from afar. My own girlfriend seems more annoyed that I had an allergic reaction than I am so I try to bring some light to the situation.

"I mean, if you were trying to kill me, you have a good way to do so now!" I light-heartedly joke which we both laugh at but I can still see the anger on Emma's face as she heads upstairs in a fury so I turn to Mrs Watson. "I think it's best that you leave, I'll talk to her."

"Of course, I hope you are okay regardless." I lead her to the door before saying goodbye and hoping to God and all that is good that Emma doesn't murder me.

I reluctantly make my way upstairs to see her, fearing of what was to come. Wish me luck, I'm gonna die.
