You let out a contented sigh as the warmth of the kotatsu seeped into your bones. Only your head stuck out of the little heated space.

"Better?" Conan smirked down at you. 

"Much." You sighed.

"Next time your leg starts hurting, just tell me." He sighed. 

"The doctors said it'll hurt off and on for the next year. I'm going to have to get used to it."

"That doesn't mean not taking care of the pain." He sighed, as he sat at the kotatsu. He shifted under the comforter, his cold foot brushing your arm. "Ah, sorry." He mumbled, as he quickly moved his foot away. He picked a tangerine out of the bowl in the middle of the table and began to peel it. When he finished, he held a piece out to you. 

You frowned, wanting the juicy treat, but not wanting to remove your arms from the warmth. Finally, you opened your mouth. He shook his head, before leaning forward to drop the segment into your mouth. "Thank you!" You chirped past the fruit. 

"Yeah, yeah." He sighed as he popped a segment into his own mouth. 

He continued passing you pieces of fruit every time you opened your mouth, until his phone buzzed on the table.

He wiped his fingers, before answering. "Hey, what's up?" He silently listened for a moment. "Not again!" He groaned. "It broke down again?" 

"Tell Agasa I said 'hi'." You yawned.

Conan didn't respond. "Is the bus running late?" Silence again. "You lost your wallet." You smirked, before opening your mouth. He didn't so much as bat an eye as he dropped the last segment into your mouth. "So, you want me to talk Mr. Mouri into renting a car to pick you up. Trouble is, he's out working for once, and Ran's out with Sonoko."

He grabbed another tangerine from the bowl. "What's the big deal? Tell the mad scientist to call you a cab." He grumbled, as he began to peel the tangerine. "She's at home, right? There's no way she went with you. She's too lazy to get up that earl..." He started, but something cut him off. His eyes widened. "Haibara, what are you doing there?" He gaped. "You always make fun of Doc's inventions!"

You frowned at the half-peeled tangerine that was now forgotten on the table. With a huff, you pulled your arm out from under the comforter and snatched the discarded fruit.

"You mean Subaru? He seems like a nice guy. Oh, why don't you ask him to pick you up?" Conan said in his usual confident tone.

As if that'll convince her. You shook your head, as you peeled the tangerine, letting the peel drop to the floor. 

"He can't be! If he were, we'd already be dead!" Conan chuckled.

You finished peeling the tangerine and returned it to its original place. 

"Haibara! I'd never do that!" He protested. "Haibara, hold on!" He shouted. He pulled the phone from his ear and frowned at it.

"What was that about?"

"She thinks I'm using her as bait." He sighed.

"Cause that guy you let stay at your place?"

"Yeah." He shook his head, before looking down at you. "I never got the chance to ask, what're your thoughts on him now?"

You looked up at the ceiling. "He's not what I expected. I mean, sure he's playing a character, but there are some things that are harder to fake, y'know? Him picking me up when I asked him to, fit the nice guy image. But then, he helped me on and off the boat for the rest of the trip. That's further than even a regular person would take it. Most people would just assume I was just being a petulant child."
