"The client lives here?" Ran asked as she looked up at the large house.
"Seems like it." Kogoro grumbled as he knocked on the door.
The door was promptly pulled open. A man towered over the four of you. He had ash grey hair and dark black eyes. His face looked worn with age, and he loosely held a cane by his side, but it didn't seem like he was using it.
Kogoro withered under the hulking man's gaze. "Ah, um... I was called here by a Yori Nakazawa."
The big man's eyes widened. "Ah, you must be Detective Mouri!" The man chuckled, his voice much softer than his gaze. He held out his hand. "I'm the one that called you here. Please, come in." The massive man stepped out of the way, and the four of you carefully entered.
The inside of the house was nice, but not extravagant. It was similar to the Kudos' home. Large, but warm and full of stories.
"This is a very nice home." Ran hummed.
"Ah, I appreciate the compliment, but I don't deserve it." Yori chuckled. "This house belonged to an old friend of mine who passed. He asked me to take care of it for his family." He stepped past you, and pushed open the doors on the left. "Please, make yourselves comfortable."
The room was a quaint Victorian style study, not as sprawling as the Kudo's, but more 'lived in'. There was a small desk and a sitting area with two armchairs and a loveseat separated by a low coffee table.
"Pardon the mess." Yori hurried to clear a few books that had been forgotten on the sofa.
Kogoro sat in one of the armchairs, while Ran, Conan, and you shared the sofa. Yori settled into the remaining seat.
"So, what exactly do you need my help for?" Kogoro asked.
"I have two cases. The first is a rather rudimentary case, similar in vein to those that frequently cross your desk. The second case, however, requires a skilled hand."
"What's with the vague answer?"
"Ah, well you see, I'm in search of a competent and trustworthy detective. None of those fools at the station, but someone who is willing to put in the work." Yori started. "I'll pay you five hundred thousand if you can solve the first case, and an additional five million for the completion of the second."
"F-five million yen?!" Kogoro gaped.
"Indeed." Yori nodded. "That's how important it is." He rested his elbows on his knees, leaning forward. "However, I should warn you, I'm only looking for the best. I'd advise you to leave now if you aren't prepared."
Kogoro puffed out his chest. "The great Mouri Kogoro will solve both these cases."
Despite Kogoro's confident proclamation, Yori didn't seem enthused. "Very well." He grabbed a bell, that had been sitting on the shelf to his right, and rang it.
The door to the study was promptly opened. A silver haired man in a simple black tux stood at the door. He looked even older than the host, but more refined. "Yes, sir?"
"Tadashi, please, call the others down to the foyer."
"As you wish."
Yori stood, and grabbed a file from the desk, before tossing it onto the coffee table. "This is the first case you will be investigating."
Kogoro sat up and opened the file.
"Three years ago, a young woman was found wandering the stretch of road leading to this house. She claimed to have escaped from someone that had drugged and abducted her."
