You scanned your surroundings. Low whispers echoed around you as everyone patiently waited in uneven lines. There were an impressive number of cameras fixed along the walls and ceiling. You glanced to your right and met the suspicious glower of Conan. "What's that look for?"

"I don't like that look in your eyes." He huffed.

"Please, I would never debase myself by resorting to bank robbery." You countered. "Being a bank robber is mainstream when people think of getting quick cash, but stealing from museums and private collectors is much more lucrative. Besides, robbing a bank is crude and unrefined. It reeks of desperation and inelegance."

He chuckled and shook his head. "I see you've put a lot of thought into this."

"You're gonna save all your New Year's money, Mitsuhiko?" Ayumi asked.

"Yeah! I asked my parents to open an account for me!" Mitsuhiko nodded.

"Spend it!" Genta grumbled.

"That's a good idea, Mitsuhiko." You smiled. "Being a little frugal will always help you in the long run."

Mitsuhiko beamed. "A penny saved is a penny earned!"

"What do you do with your new year's money, Genta?" Conan asked.

"I hand it over to my mom. She says she'll take care of it until I wanna buy something big!" Genta grinned.

"Have you ever spent it?" Haibara hummed.

"Huh... don't think I have. Mom always says I can't afford it."

You tried to hide your smirk. Genta's mom is pretty clever.

"Maybe she's saving for an emergency, like an illness." Ayumi suggested.

"Then it might as well be in the bank." Dr. Agasa chuckled.

Genta pouted. "I'm gonna go tell my mom I want my money back!" He grumbled. "I mean, I never get..." Before the boy could finish his sentence, his face contorted with pain. "Oww, m-my stomach..."

"You good?" You called.

"Maybe it's something you ate." Conan suggested skeptically.

"I only had two helpings of curry for lunch..." Genta grimaced.

"When we picked you up at your house, you had powder on your nose." Mitsuhiko recalled.

"I wanted something sweet after all that curry, so I had four mochi cakes from the fridge. Then I felt like something salty, so I put soy sauce on the cakes and wrapped them in seaweed..."

"Basically, you pigged out." Haibara sighed.

"We'll go pick up antacid at the drugstore." Dr. Agasa suggested.

He and Haibara started towards the door. "Find a restroom and do what you have to do." She grumbled, as they left the bank.

You shook your head as you followed Conan and the brats down a side hallway to the bathroom. Genta hurried into the men's room, and the rest of you waited outside. You leaned against the wall, taking your weight off your still tender left leg.

Conan noticed the shift in your stance. His watched you with furrowed eyebrows. You gave him a slight smile and nod.

BAM!

A deafening pop echoed down the hallway. You tensed. That noise. You raced down the hallway towards the main room.

"Mitsuhiko, Ayumi hide in the restroom with Genta!" Conan shouted behind you.
