Well, this is it, guys. The final chapter. 36K reads and it's still growing. It's been fun. I'll be watching it from the sidelines. Thank you all so much for your support.

The original title was "The Cat Distribution System", but it was too long. I'm bummed about that. I like that one better.

"Guys, I'm home," you alerted the toys whilst coming into the house with four bags of groceries. You went to the kitchen and put everything away. Upon going into your room, you saw Buzz and an orange tabby kitten on your bed. "That's not my cat, Buzz."

Buzz got up and the kitten followed him to the end of your bed to continue nuzzling against him. "Woody and I found it under the porch. It was alone, so we brought it in. We know how you feel about strays."

You held a hand to the cat. It sniffed your fingers before headbutting them and nuzzling against your hand. "I guess the cat distribution system gave me some luck. I've been wanting an orange tabby."

"Cat distribution system?" Buzz questioned.

"It's a joke on Instagram," you clarified. "Well, I guess I'm going back out."

"Are you keeping it?" the Space Ranger asked.

"Yeah," you said. You picked the kitten up and carried it to the bathroom after grabbing the bottle of Dawn from the kitchen. Buzz followed you to the bathroom. "Shit," you realized. "Buzz, can you go get the soup pot from the cabinet, please?"

"Yeah, I'll be back," he said then called as he left, "Woody, Jessie, can you give me a hand?"

You looked down at the kitten nuzzling you. You rubbed its head. "You're the lone survivor, huh?"

Buzz, Woody, and Jessie soon came into the bathroom with the soup pot.

"I knew you'd keep it," Jessie smiled.

"Do you know how many strays are around here? I wanna keep all of them," you deadpanned. You took the pot and filled it with warm soapy water in the tub. "Thank you, guys."

"Need help?" Woody asked. "Everyone knows bathing a cat isn't a one man job."

"Mmm," you hummed in indecision. "No, I got it. Kittens usually don't freak out, I think. I'll yell if I need help, though." You sat on your knees beside the tub and began bathing the kitten in the pot. You tried to kill as many fleas as you could with the Dawn.

Ten minutes later, you came back into your room with the kitten wrapped in a towel. Buzz, Jessie, and Woody smiled at the new addition.

"How much stuff do you need to get?" Jessie asked.

"Not a lot, just the basics," you replied. "I'll take her to the vet tomorrow since it's too late today." You gently set the cat in front of the toys. "Watch her, please? I'll be back as soon as I can."

"It's a girl?" Woody asked.

"Yeah, I'm thinking (Cat Name), something pretty," you said. "We'll talk names later." You rushed out of the house.

It had been a couple of hours and the excitement had passed. The kitten had already settled in and was asleep on your chest as you were on your back in your bed. It was too early to try to sleep, so you were scrolling through your phone. Your free hand slowly stroked the kitten to keep her relaxed.

"Looks like you're a mom now," Buzz chimed. He sat next to you on your pillow.

"I hope she isn't sick," you said.

"I think she's fine. She wasn't lethargic when Woody and I found her," he said. "Just a little scared."

"I hope so," you said.

"Any names?" he asked.

"I'm thinking of either (Cat Name) or (Longer Cat Name)," you said.

"(Cat Name)," he decided. "(Longer Cat Name)'s nice, but it's too long. It doesn't have the same ring that (Cat Name) has."

"(Cat Name) it is, then," you smiled.

Buzz kissed your forehead. "I'm glad she warmed up to you so fast."

"You and me both," you said. "I love clingy cats."
