The giant pit bull hadn't even dragged Sky halfway through the alley when Duke barked, "What do you think you're doing?!" The pit bull stopped in his tracks as the big dog climbed down to the cement. Meanwhile, the other animals were gathering at the window. Baring his teeth, Duke snarled, "Leave Sky alone. NOW." Snorting, the pit bull released the Siberian husky, who quickly retreated behind Duke.

Squeezing pass two Siamese cat twins, Snowball finally got a good look at the stranger. Oh no, not him! the thought burst inside his head. Glancing at Ozone, the rabbit could tell that the hairless cat was thinking the same thing. Snowball could already smell trouble brewing.

Cackling, the pit bull grinned evilly at Duke as he sneered, "So that is your girlfriend?! Wow, you remind me so much of your father whenever I acted this way around your mother." From where he was standing, Max could tell that his brother was becoming agitated. Don't, he's trying to mess with you... the small dog pleaded. However, Duke growled and rushed at the pit bull, who seemed unfazed. With a flick of his tail, spikes spread out from the end. It was then that Max noticed that the dog had a metal tail, along with metal pieces here and there. Whirling around, the pit bull struck Duke and sent him sailing into a bunch of trash bags.

"Hey, pick on someone your own size!" a voice barked at the pit bull. Gazing behind the dog, Max's heart dropped when he realized that it was Gidget who spoke. The pit bull merely laughed at her. However, he was unprepared as she sprang into action.

Quick as lightning, Gidget grasped his left foreleg and pulled it behind him. Yelping in pain, the pit bull crashed onto the pavement. Max could hear bones breaking as Gidget pulled harder and harder. Meanwhile, Pops pushed his way through the crowd and gazed down at the pit bull. "Hey you, newsflash, you're banished from this apartment!" the elderly basset hound shouted. With those words, Gidget released her hold.

By now, the pit bull's left leg dragged on the ground. Snarling, he glared at the others and exclaimed, "This won't be the last you see of me!" Swishing his metal tail, he limped away.
