"Guys, do you see Sonya anywhere?" Buddy asked, sounding concerned. Mel and Sweetpea slowly turned their heads around to look at him. Sweetpea chirped and whistled a few times. Huffing, Mel translated, "Why do you want to know?"
Biting his lip, Buddy replied quietly, "Because Snowball said that a majority of the city was here and I was wondering if that was true..." The dachshund smiled nervously. Mel's face lit up as he spoke, "Okay!" Glaring at the pug in disbelief, Sweetpea slapped himself in the face.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Buddy suddenly caught a strange scent. Peering over his shoulder, he saw the shadow of a scruffy mutt running away. Curious, he was about to follow when he noticed a few sparks on a couple of newspapers. He could also detect some gasoline. Buddy's heart pounded as he turned to leave.
Before he could yell for help, however, the newspapers ignited into flames.
