Humming to himself quietly, Snowball caught sight of a familiar black cat up ahead. Snorting, the white rabbit hopped over. "Hey Nitro! What are you doing today?" he piped up, startling the cat slightly. Recovering from shock, Nitro replied, "I'm just watching Little Blue." Just then, a young cat with light blue fur leaped out from behind a trash can and pinned Snowball.
Smiling, Snowball laughed as he played along, "Oh no! You got me!" The young cat laughed as well as she exclaimed, "Hi Uncle Snowball!" Releasing him, she saw a small butterfly. Purring, the young cat raced after it. Chuckling, Snowball got up and commented, "Little Blue sure is getting big." Nitro nodded his head in agreement. Both of them remembered how the Alley Cats and the Flushed Pets raised the orphan kitten since last year. It feels like yesterday when she was nothing more than a tiny mound of fluff... Snowball thought quietly.
Suddenly, Little Blue came running back with a light brown elder. "Nitro, it's Waffles!" the elder cried out breathlessly. Sharing a look, Snowball and Nitro took off after the two cats, arriving at a horrible scene. An orange tabby cat lay in a pool of his own blood. Kneeling down, Snowball whispered softly, "Who did this to you?" Opening his mouth, the tabby could only muster a moan of pain before his head dropped, dead within seconds. The light brown elder yowled in agony. Snowball shook his head in sadness.
A small tap brought Snowball back to the world around him. Whimpering, Little Blue pointed at strange scratchings on a nearby wall. Snowball's heart pounded with dread as he instantly recognized the symbols...
