Stretching his legs, Max woke up to a delicious scent. "Max, great news! Katie's going to stay here today!" Duke declared, wagging his tail. At that moment, Katie appeared from the kitchen with two bowls. "Breakfast!" she exclaimed, placing the bowls before the pair.
Peering inside, Max found a combination of bacon and sausages. Hungry, he and Duke wolfed it down with delight. When they were done, they looked up at Katie expectantly. Laughing, she tossed them one each.
Once the three finished breakfast, Katie ruffled their foreheads lovingly as she suggested, "Who's up for a walk?" Eager to go outside, Max and Duke barked happily in reply. Giggling, Katie stood up and, after grabbing their leashes, they left the apartment.
