Four weeks had passed since the attack at the party. Max kept a watchful eye on Duke as the big dog devoured his breakfast. The pit bull had managed to leave Duke with huge scars on his left cheek. Thankfully, he had escaped with his life.

Just then, Duke began whining. Max knew how the wounds ached whenever the big dog moved his jaw to eat or talk. Padding over, the small dog nuzzled the right side of Duke's face. "Don't worry brother, it won't hurt forever," Max reassured the larger canine. Duke only nodded his head. All of the sudden, Snowball bursted into the room.
