Leah's POV

After T had left upstairs last night, we didn't talk. I didn't try to talk to her when I went upstairs either. I didn't greet her this morning either. I didn't know what to do or say so she wouldn't leave again.

Instead, we were having breakfast in silence. We were seated across from each other. I often glanced at her but noticed how she had her head down. It seemed she did everything she could to avoid speaking with me.

I tried eating my bowl of cereal like this, but it felt so ridiculous. I put my spoon down. "Can we at least try to talk about it?"

T didn't react. She kept her head down and continued eating.

"T?" I leaned in closer, as if that would make her listen. "T? Can you respond to me?"

She finished her meal and got up.

I looked at her as she was putting everything away. "T?" I got up as I noticed she was leaving me again. "T?"

She walked to the front door, took her jacket and bag, and left the house.

I sighed as I watched her leave through the window. I guess I wasn't worthy of a single word from her...

I went back to the kitchen and sat back down. I finished breakfast on my own and thought about who I could ask for help. I wanted to talk to someone who'd understand me.

When I was done with my breakfast, I got up and left the house too.

After a 35 minute walk, I arrived at my mom's place. I rang the doorbell. Even though I still had the key to the house, I didn't think it was my place to just enter the house. After all, I didn't live here anymore...

The front door opened and I was greeted by a big smile. "Leah," Mom pulled me in for a hug. "How nice of you to visit!"

I hugged her back, even though I wasn't a hugger. "Hey mom," I said as I pulled away. "How are you?"

"I'm doing well," She said as she moved aside so I could enter. "How are you?"

I got out of my jacket and walked with her to the living room. "I've been ok."

Mom looked at me, I could tell she knew I wasn't doing that well. "Leah," She placed her hand on mine. "What's wrong?"

I gulped and looked down. "T's pregnant," I said and looked at her. She was clearly surprised to hear this. "We planned it together this time but she's been acting strange ever since she got a positive result on the pregnancy test."

Mom took her time to let all that information sink in before replying to me. She looked at me. "Strange how?"

"She..." I thought about how to describe T's behavior the best. "She's so focused on her pregnancy that she doesn't see the bigger picture."

Mom raised her eyebrows. "What is the bigger picture?"

I sighed. "When she lost our child, she was almost gone too. I want her to understand that pregnancy, however beautiful it may be, could also end up badly. I want her to understand that her friends and family are here to support her through this process. Somehow she seems to think everyone's trying to bring her down."

Mom sighed too. "That's tough indeed."

I slowly nodded.

"What Talia went through was a lot, we cannot underestimate that," She said to which I nodded. "Maybe she's been avoiding the bad talk about pregnancies to protect herself from getting hurt again."

I looked down then. "But shouldn't she talk to me about that?" I looked at mom. "Shouldn't we be talking about this, as a married couple?"

"Oh, Leah..." She let out a deep sigh. "There are so many things in this world that don't go the way we want it to go. I don't always understand it either."

"Yeah..." I sighed and looked away. Somehow this talk didn't seem to help me either, even though my mom was trying to. Maybe there wasn't anything I could do about this issue with T. Or maybe I talk to her parents?

Mom seemed to catch on to my mood and squeezed my hand a bit. "If you want to talk to Talia, you should keep trying."

"I have tried but every time I try, she runs away."

Mom seemed to think for a bit. "Maybe you have to tell her your message in a different way then?"

I looked at her. "In what way?"

She shrugged. "Something that's more you."

I thought about what she said and instantly an idea came to mind. "Thanks, mom."

I got back home and spotted T at the dining table. She was busy with paperwork, probably grading papers. I had to fight the urge to go up to her to greet her. Instead, I walked to the couch and took my laptop. I opened an empty document on it and started writing down my message to her.

When I was done, I reread the entire message so I'd be sure it was good and clear. I then got up and walked to T.

T didn't look up at me but I could tell she had noticed I walked to her.

I put my laptop down on the table in front of her. Then, without saying a word, I went upstairs and left her with my laptop. Now it was up to her whether she wanted to read my message or not.

I got to our bedroom and started changing into pajamas. I then went to lay down on the bed and waited. I wondered if she'd read it and how long it would take for her to read it. It was kind of annoying I didn't have anything to do now. Normally, I'd write stories but I couldn't...

I took my phone and went on the internet, I tried staying busy by checking the news. Overall though, I was bored.

After 15 minutes, the door to the bedroom opened and in she came. She looked at me but I didn't look at her.

She seemed hesitant at first but came to the bed. She laid down on her side and faced me.

In response, I put my phone away and laid on my side, facing her too. Then I waited and looked at her.

She looked everywhere but me, it seemed she had a hard time facing me. Then, she sighed and looked at me. "I'm sorry."

I didn't reply instantly. I waited a bit so she'd know I was serious. "I just wanted you to understand."

She nodded slowly. "I know."

I looked her in the eyes then. "I'm happy about this pregnancy but we have to know what can happen."

She gulped. "Losing our first baby," She paused, she was getting emotional. "It was the hardest thing I ever went through," She gulped again. A tear rolled down her face. "I don't want to experience that again."

Seeing her like that, melted my heart. I scooted closer and pulled her into my arms. "We'll do everything we can to avoid that but we have to keep communicating."

She looked at me and nodded slowly.

"I love you." I finally said.

She smiled a bit. "I love you too."
