Leah's POV
It had been 3 weeks since that phone call, since my low became even lower. I understood that T needed all the help she could get, but what about me? While she was trying to climb out of the hole, I was falling into it. I was losing it.
I somehow managed to keep things going. I was bringing the boys to school, going to work, and getting them again. Eva and Heather told me they were there for me, and wanted to help, but I told them I was fine. I didn't want them to worry about me, they had Hannah to take care of.
I didn't tell anyone else about that phone call. I assumed Heather told Charlotte and Mary, as they came by more often. But they didn't tell me anything directly.
My friends and family were unaware of the sudden change. I just didn't want to worry people. Besides, these are my worries, I should handle them. In sickness and in health, that's what I said at our wedding. I just wished the sickness part could finally be over.
Today, my mom and T's parents were taking me and the boys out for a day at the zoo. They thought it was a great way to be away.
I had woken up early, as I failed to get some proper sleep since that phone call. So I decided to make myself useful and started preparing lunch and snacks for the day. I put everything in a backpack.
While I was doing that, I noticed the time fly by. I should wake up the boys.
I went upstairs and smiled as I saw them sleeping. Thankfully, I have them. I don't know what I'd do without them. They had no clue just how much support I got just from having them here. One day, I'll tell them.
"Good morning, boys."
"Good morning, mama!" They'd say enthusiastically.
I got them out of bed and ready for the day. Getting Jin ready was very easy. He had his go-to clothes and was easily content with what I picked out. Emil, on the other hand, wanted to have a say in it. He had so many ideas for his outfits that he eventually didn't pick anything.
When they were both finally dressed, I took them downstairs. I made them breakfast and had them eat.
While they were eating, I continued preparing the bag for the day. That's when the doorbell rang.
"Nana!" They said enthusiastically.
Nana was my mother. They had no sweet name for T's parents, as T's mom wasn't always as nice to Jin...I opened the door and smiled. "Hey mom," I welcomed her in and hugged her tightly. I wondered if she would be able to feel just how lonely I have been. "Come in."
Mom entered the house and went to the kitchen, as if she could sense where the kids were at. "Here are my sweet boys," She leaned down and kissed them on their heads. "Are you ready for today?"
"Yeah!"
Mom smiled before looking at me. I could see she was observing me for a bit but had no chance to ask anything, as the doorbell rang again.
"Those will be T's parents," I said, gaining a sigh from the boys. I opened the door and smiled at them. "Hey," I hugged them quickly. "Come on in."
They too walked to the kitchen. They sat down, next to my mom, leaving no spot for me to sit at. "How are you two doing?" T's mom asked.
Jin didn't look up at her, he made it clear he didn't like her, and I couldn't blame him. Emil looked at her and nodded slowly.
They nodded before looking at me. "How are you, Leah?"
I nodded. "I'm ok."
I once again saw how my mom was watching me, I truly wondered if she could look past the facade I built. I spent weeks building myself up, pretending to be alright, keeping myself up. Would my mom be able to see past it all?
"How's Talia?" T's mom asked.
I gulped. Just hearing T's name... I hadn't talked about T in a while. Even the boys stopped asking about her, maybe because they were tired of getting the same response over and over? Or maybe because they could see it hurt me?
When I didn't answer, they all looked at me. "Leah?"
I looked at them. "She's trying to get better." I settled with. It was the only thing I knew for sure. I had no idea what she was feeling, or what she was doing.
T's parents seemed happy enough with that answer, but not my mom. "When did you last see her?" Mom asked me.
I gulped. Would I lie to my mom? Would I be able to? Did I want to? "Uhm..."
"A long time." Jin unexpectedly replied.
Mom looked from Jin to me. Her face softened. "I'm sorry." She simply said.
I nodded.
T's parents looked at me. "Why haven't you seen her recently?" T's mom asked.
T's dad nudged her, I guess he understood the topic was hard for me.
I gulped. "Can we not talk about that now?" I said and motioned to the kids.
"Tata does not want to see anyone." Jin once again replied. And I was left wondering, how on earth he knew all of this. I hadn't told them...
My mom and T's parents were shocked to hear this. They looked at me.
Mom got up and immediately pulled me in for a hug. She held me close to her and it's only then I realized just how much I missed that extra support and love.
I enjoyed that hug immensely."She won't see anyone?" T's mom tried. "Not the boys, not her friends, not us, not you?"
I looked at them and shook my head.
"But why?" I could hear T's mom getting really upset.
"I don't know," I gulped. "I wish I did, but they wouldn't give me a reason."
T's mom got up. "Call them, demand an explanation."
I shook my head.
"You're Talia's wife, you have the right to be involved in her health." T's mom went on.
"I have the right, yes," I gulped. "But she has the right to privacy."
I could see she wasn't happy with my response. So, before she could come at me again, my mom pulled me closer. "Shall we go?"
"Yeah!" The kids cheered.
T's dad got up and pulled his wife with him, preventing her from asking me more questions.
I sighed in relief.
Mom took my hand in hers. "Enjoy this day off," She said softly. "And tomorrow, I'll move in and help you out," She smiled a bit. "If you want."
I appreciated that offer, especially because she asked my permission. "I'd love that."
Mom nodded and took me with her.
