Leah's POV
It's odd how after all this time, I could still recognize T's lips, her body, her strength, in the dark. Throughout the night, she'd reach for me when I'd go too far away from her. And every time, I recognized her.
I never stopped to think just how well we were connected. It's easy to assume that when you've slept with someone, you're connected. But this was different, at least to me. With just a simple touch, I recognized my wife, I welcomed her.
I wondered if this was what it meant to be soulmates. Anyone can be your partner, but only one person can be... your soulmate. I often would joke around with that word: soulmate. When you ask people, they're either for or against it, there doesn't really seem to be a middle ground.
T has always been a hopeless romantic. I know she believes in soulmates, she often calls me that. And I called her that, but I never quite understood the meaning of it, until now.
As we welcomed the sun into our room, so did I welcome T's embrace for waking me up. She kissed my cheek. "Good morning, baby."
I smiled. "Morning, baby."
She laid back down and pulled me into her again. I could feel how our bodies reconnected, how every fiber in my body was drawn to hers. I could feel her warmth. I could lie here forever.
I opened my eyes and jumped up.
T sat up. "Baby?"
I rushed to the bathroom.
T didn't follow me, she understood. Unfortunately, I still had my disease...
When I returned, I was a bit weaker. I didn't feel so great either. T seemed to notice that and welcomed me back into bed.
The minute I got in, she wrapped her arms around me, hugging me from behind. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
She didn't have to explain why she apologized, I understood. She always hated that I got this disease. What she hated the most was that she couldn't do anything about it. I wouldn't get better, I just had to live with it. And for her, that was horrible: seeing me in pain.
After some time, I decided to turn around and face her. She had her eyes closed, I wondered if she was sleeping or just enjoying the time we were sharing together. "T?"
She opened her eyes and smiled when she saw me looking at her. "Yeah?"
"Shouldn't we get up?" I said but made no effort to get up. "Shouldn't we do something?"
She looked at me, she reached for my face, and caressed my cheek. She didn't reply, she just smiled at me.
"T?"
She looked at me again. "I know it must seem like we're doing nothing but this is a lot to me."
I looked at her.
"I was so down, broken, lost in my personal hell," She looked away briefly and I could see she was fighting tears. It was clear the memories and the feelings were still with her. "I longed for this," She looked back at me. "To connect with you."
I wanted to say so much, but couldn't. Instead, I just nodded.

"Anything else I can get you?" I asked Eva as she went to sit down at the dining table.
"No," She smiled at me. "Thanks."
I nodded and looked at T. She smiled at me, so I smiled back at her.
"Come, psycho." Heather said and took my hand, taking me away from them. We went to the garden, sitting down on the porch. She let out a breath as she was looking at the environment.
I looked around and breathed out too.
Heather looked at me. "She'll be alright."
I looked at her. "I know," I looked away. "Why wouldn't she be?"
Heather nodded, but I could tell she was wondering something. "How are the boys?" But she was smart to change the subject. "Still at your mother's place?"
I nodded. "We're getting them in the early evening."
She nodded. "It was a good idea for you two to be alone, just for a bit," She nudged me gently. "How was it?" She asked, followed by a wink. I could only imagine what she was thinking.
I rolled my eyes and looked away.
Unlike in the past, Heather had gotten more mature. So instead of a stupid joke, she was getting worried. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah," I looked at her briefly. "We're just taking things slow."
She nodded. "That's good," She looked at me for a bit, frowning. "Right?"
I nodded but then slowly shrugged. "I guess," I looked at her. "It's just different."

Talia's POV
"Different how?" Eva asked me.
I shrugged. "We tried to get closer again, intimacy," I said, gaining a nod from Eva. "We spent last night, and early today in bed. We just spent time together," I looked down. "But it's different."
"Did your feelings change?"
I looked back up at her. "No," I smiled as I thought about Leah. "Absolutely not," I shook my head. "I wouldn't want to be with anyone else, it's just that... It's different."
She nodded but I could tell she didn't understand what I meant. "Were you afraid to take it further?"

"I wouldn't say that," I looked at Heather. I shrugged. "Maybe," I sighed. "T keeps describing how she went through so much, how broken she was," I gulped. "I just don't want to hurt her."
"But you can't protect her for everything, Leah."
"I know," I sighed. "But I can try."
She shook her head. "I don't think Talia wants a bodyguard, she wants her wife," She showed me a small smile. "If you don't act because you're afraid for the result, you'd miss out on so many beautiful things."
I looked at her.
"If you and Talia both didn't give your full commitment to this forbidden relationship before, you wouldn't be sitting here: married and with kids."
I sighed, she was right. "I know, but..." I gulped. "What do I do, from here?"
"Depends," She looked at me. "What's your goal?"

Talia's POV
"I just want things to go back to how they were," I looked at Eva. "Before everything went bad."
She looked apologetically at me. "Do you think that's possible?"
Just by the look in her eyes, I knew her answer to this question. I sighed and looked down. "Probably not," I gulped. "But I don't know how to move on from here, it feels like we've hit a wall."
She gently placed her hand on top of mine. "Have you tried expressing how you feel to her?"
I gulped and looked away.
"Maybe Leah is feeling the same way, and you two can overcome this together," She showed me a small smile. "That would make everything much easier."
I quickly shook my head. "I don't want to bother Leah with this."
"Talia," Eva said, rather sternly. "You have to learn to talk to your wife."
I looked down.
"Because I'm pretty sure," She looked towards the kitchen, the garden. "She's definitely feeling the same way."
I frowned and got up. I walked to her so I could see what she was seeing. From there, I saw how Heather and Leah were talking on the porch. By the looks of it, Leah was feeling rather upset about something.
"You two share more than you think, Talia," Eva said, smiling at me. "Trust me."
I looked from Eva to the scene on the porch. I smiled and nodded.
