Leah's POV

It was Saturday. I loved the weekend. Finally, no school. Nothing to do. Just relaxing.

Because of college, I found it harder to find time to write. My days were filled. I just couldn't get to it. So the weekend were my time. My time to continue doing what I loved.

At some point T arrived in the living room. She looked at me.

As she didn't day anything, I got nervous. I looked at her. "What?"

She tilted her head to the side. "What are you doing?"

I motioned to my computer, hoping she'd get the hint. I mean, there wasn't much else I did on my computer... Usually when I'm on the computer, it's for writing, and T knew that.

She looked at the computer than at me. "What are you doing?" She repeated.

I sighed. I put my laptop aside before sitting up, making room for her to sit next to me. "Baby," I patted the spot next to me. "What's wrong?"

She sighed and sat down next to me. "This woman," She paused a bit, biting her lips. I could tell she was worried about something. "I don't want those conversation with her."

"I'm guessing you're talking about the woman from the adoption center?"

She slowly nodded. She looked down, fidgeting with her hands.

"Hey," I took her hand in mine. "We'll be alright. There's nothing to worry about."

She raised her eyebrows. "Nothing to worry about?" She chuckled humoursly. "I was your teacher, you were my student, we had aan illegal relationship for years!"

Before I could reply to that, she went on.

"You've got a disease, I've got issues with mental health..." She sighed deeply, looking down. "We're doomed."

"Baby," I squeezed her hand a bit. "When I applied for us to adopt a child, I already mentioned all of that."

Her face shot up at me. She looked at me in horror. "What do you mean? They know everything about us already?"

I simply nodded. "When you adopt a child, they want to know what the home life of this child would be. Since we're married, we can offer more stability. But they had to see proof of that marriage."

"The date..." She trailed of, looking away.

I nodded again. "The date of our wedding shows I married really young. There's really no point in lying about any of this."

T pulled her hand back. She covered her face with her hands. "We're doomed!"

I chuckled. "We'll be fine."

She dropped her hands but kept her face down. "How can this be fine?" She asked but it was clear she didn't expect me to answer. "They'll rip us to shreds. Blaming me I'm a predator and an unstable wreck."

"T," I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her into me. "I believe if we are ourselves and we tell them how we experienced things, they'll see how our relationship is strong enough to raise a child. We'll handle this the way we handle everything: together."

Slowly, she started smiling. I could tell she was still unsure but she trusted me. And that's all we needed.

In the afternoon, the woman visited us. She came right on time.

I was the one welcoming her in since T was still nervous about this talk.

"Have a seat," I said, motioning to the chair at the dining table. "Can I get you something to drink?"

"Just water." She smiled politely afterwards.

As I went to get a glass of water, I could hear how nothing was said. Not even small talk...

I got back, handed her the glass of water, and sat down. I smiled at T again, trying to comfort her.

The woman took a sip of water before opening the folder she had. A lot of papers were in there. "So," She looked at us again. "You two want to adopt?"

I nodded and looked at T, allowing her to talk. When she didn't talk, I looked back at the woman. "We weren't able to get children on our own, and when we visited the center, we realized we could give a child a good home."

She nodded. "I read about the miscarriages..." She trailed of a bit. She looked at T. "I'm so sorry."

T slowly nodded, it was clear this topic was still hard for her.

"How are you two doing right now? Would you say you're doing alright? And how's the relationship?"

I could see how T was getting tense from these questions. "We went through a really rough time," I replied honestly. "It wasn't easy but we managed to get through it because we stayed together. And we have amazing people who supported us."

"Who are these people?"

I looked at T, once again giving her the opportunity to talk. But she didn't... "Our parents, our friends..."

The woman nodded. "I saw you two are married."

Once again, T was getting tense. I simply nodded at that.

"You married really young," She said, looking at me. "How did you two meet?"

There it was... The question T dreaded the most. The question I hated the most...

"At school," I simply replied. "We got talking and clicked."

The woman nodded before looking down at her papers. "You two weren't the same age, there's quite an age gap..."

I sighed. "Talia was my teacher," I said, getting a nod from her. "We got together and got married when I was 18."

"Why did you two get married so young?"

"Because we felt like it."

She nodded. "How did your parents feel about the relationship?"

T looked down, seemingly losing hope.

"My parents were surprised but have supported us since," I took a paper which I had put on the table to give to the woman. "This is a statement from my mom, about our relationship."

The woman nodded and took the paper.

T looked at it. I could tell she was surprised I had this.

"I also have one for Talia's parents, Talia's friends, and my friends." I said, giving them all to the woman.

The woman nodded. "That's good."

I looked at T, smiling at her. She slowly smiled back.

"How did you get these statements?" T asked me, when the woman left.

"I asked everyone to write it down for us," I sat down on the couch, next to T. "They all agreed to do that for us."

T smiled. "You were prepared for this."

I nodded. "I didn't want them to think badly of our relationship just because of the way we met, so I asked people to 'testify' about it."

She nodded and looked down. "I barely said a word..." She sighed. "What if they think I'm not passionate about this?"

"Baby, you were nervous," I leaned in closer, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "She'll get that."

She looked at me and smiled. "I'm so happy with you," She wrapped her arm around me. "It was really hot to see you master the conversation like that."

I chuckled.

She looked at the time before looking back at me. "Do you want to go to bed early?"

I chuckled again. "Sure, baby."

She smiled more and pulled me with her upstairs.
