Talia's POV

"There we go," I said as I sat back on the couch. "He's all good again." I smiled at my company.

Heather smiled back and looked at Emil. "It's so crazy how you're a mom now," He paused a bit. "Like... A real mom."

Eva nudged her, probably because she thought what Heather said could hurt me.

"Yeah," I smiled before looking at Emil again. He was on my lap, getting comfortable in my arms. "I'm happy to have him though."

"We can see that." Eva said, her tone gentle.

Heather looked around. "So where's psycho?"

Eva again nudged Heather. I wondered if she had to do that a lot... Heather had no filter, so if she was trying to teach her to be more careful with her words... She could try that for a long time.

"She's working." I said.

Eva nodded while Heather raised her eyebrows. "Working?" She looked around again. "Where?"

"The dining table," I motioned towards the direction of the dining table. "She's working on her computer."

Heather got up and left me alone with Eva.

Leah's POV

I was looking around, thinking about which storyline made more sense. Usually, those decisions came to me relatively easily. Sometimes, I had to think about them. There would be stories with so many possibilities. It would be difficult to choose which way to go from a certain point.

"Hey psycho," Heather said, her hand on my shoulder. "What are you working on?"

I looked at her, lowering the screen of my laptop. "Just writing."

Immediately I could tell she was interested. She sat down next to me. "What story?"

I had to admit, I wasn't used to this version of Heather, even though she had been nothing but supportive of me for a while now. I didn't really talk about my stories with people around me. I wasn't ashamed of them, it just felt like no one would get it. "A vampire one."

She nodded slowly. "Can I see?"

I looked at my computer but closed the screen completely. "It's not done yet."

"How's your true story going?" She asked, changing the subject. It seemed she caught on I wasn't feeling that comfortable, I guess Eva was a good influence on that part.

"Good," I nodded. "People seem to like it."

"I bet," She chuckled. "Who wouldn't like to bite the forbidden fruit?"

I raised my eyebrows a bit.

"It's sexy," She went on. "Things that are forbidden are the things everyone is interested in," She nodded, agreeing with what she was saying. "It's why such stories or movies do so well."

I nodded.

"Am I still the villain in the story?"

Now it was my time to chuckle. "Of course," I smiled at her. "You're doing such a good job."

She bowed a bit. "I know, I know," She smiled at me. "I do hope people don't hate me too much..."

I tilted my head a bit as I saw this rather sensitive side of her. It seemed she genuinely cared about what others thought about her. "They don't really know you as we do though."

She looked at me. "Yeah," She looked down briefly. "But I hate to be stuck and labeled as 'the villain', you know?"

I nodded. "For what it's worth," I carefully placed my hand on her shoulder. "I think you're one the better friends I have. You understand me, in a way."

She smiled. "Thanks, psycho."

Talia's POV

"Hey," I said as I saw Leah and Heather talking. Leah had her hand on Heather's shoulder, I was wondering what they were discussing. "What's going on here?"

Eva stood next to me, looking at them. She smiled though, she seemed happy to see this.

"Psycho told me I'm a good villain in her story," Heather smiled at Leah. "But that she doesn't see me as that anymore."

"Of course not," I said, gaining her attention. "Leah has been trying to clear your name in the comments. She's trying to get people to understand that people do change."

Heather looked at Leah. "Thanks."

Leah nodded.

"So, can I now see those other stories?" Heather asked, already scooting closer.

Leah sighed but went along with it. She opened her laptop and went over everything with Heather.

While they were doing that, I looked at them and was happy they got along. It was what I always wanted. In the corner of my eyes, I saw Eva. She was smiling as well.

"It's nice when they get along." I said, trying to make conversation with her. Even though she had been here a few times, somehow I could seem to get a connection with her. It almost felt as if she shut me out, for some reason.

"Yeah." She said.

I sighed, not knowing what else to talk about. So instead, we stood there for a while, just watching our partners get along. There wasn't anything wrong with this, but it felt a bit awkward...

After some time, I looked back at her. "It's so nice that Heather's girlfriend is also Leah's therapist," I smiled at her. "That way, the distance isn't too big."

Eva smiled a bit. "I suppose."

I looked away briefly as I once again felt like she was shutting me out. "So how's therapy going?" I asked and looked at her. "Is Leah doing well?"

She looked at me, her facial expression neutral. "I think it's great how supportive you are of your wife," She started, making me smile. "But what happens in therapy is private. You should respect your wife's privacy."

I opened my mouth, to say something, to defend myself.

"I think we should get going." Eva said, mainly to Heather.

When they were out, I sat on the couch, baffled by that conversation. Why was she acting that way towards me? Was it something I did? Something I said? I didn't think I pushed too hard to know about therapy, did I?

"Hey," Leah smiled as she sat down next to me. "That was nice," She let out a breath. "I like it when they come over."

I shrugged.

She frowned a bit. "What's wrong?" She scooted closer to me. "I thought you liked having them come over too."

I shrugged again.

"Baby," She caressed my leg. "Talk to me."

I sighed. "I don't like her."

Leah raised her eyebrows. "Who?"

"Eva."

She seemed baffled. "Why not? She's super nice."

"Yeah, Heather and you keep saying that but I don't see any of that," I sighed. "Whenever I try to talk to her, she's distant and doesn't really reply."

"Strange," Leah looked away briefly. "Maybe she's shy."

I shrugged. "I think she doesn't like me."

"Now who wouldn't like you?" She scooted closer to me, pecking my lips. "I'm sure it'll all get better after some time."

I smiled a bit. "Maybe."

"I'm sure of it," She pecked my lips again. "I love you."

I smiled more. "I want you to show me how much you love me."

She smiled too, seemingly happy with what I said.

We both got up and went upstairs, but not before checking up on Emil and closing his bedroom door.
