Leah's POV

I was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast for T and me. These past few days hadn't been easy for her. I didn't realize how hard the reality would be for her. I thought being back home would help her and give her the stability and support she needed... It was stupid to think that.

T kept getting upset by the spare rooms, which were decorated for our children. She would often go inside and cry on the floor. I tried to keep her away, to protect her, but she wouldn't listen. So, this morning when I woke up, I locked those doors and hid the keys. I knew that it was a hard way to keep her safe but I just didn't want her to herself anymore.

I kept thinking about my decision while I was cooking for T. Maybe my decision was too rushed? Maybe this was wrong... I don't know. Maybe I should ask Eva.

Today I would see Eva again. I was actually happy about that. It's odd because I never thought I'd be so happy to see a therapist. But whenever I talked to Eva, I felt free. She helped me see and realize things that I couldn't see on my own. I was grateful to have her.

Suddenly, there was a loud banging on the front door. I gulped as I turned off the stove. I slowly walked towards the front door. I tried to have a look without showing myself. I also wondered who would make so much noise, then I knew who would do that...

I opened the front door. "Hi, Heather."

Without replying to me, she barged right in. "I am amazing!"

I closed the front door again and looked at her. "Good morning to you too."

She waved me off. "I did it."

I slowly nodded. "Good for you."

She rolled her eyes. "You're not being funny, you know."

I shrugged.

She grabbed my shoulders. "I actually did it," She started shaking me, she was clearly excited about something. "I finally asked her out."

I raised my eyebrows. "Who?"

She released me. "I repeat, you're not being funny." She then crossed her arms.

I sighed. "I really don't get it, Heather."

She looked at me, looking me up and down. I learned that when she did that, she was trying to see whether you were serious or not. "Eva," She finally said. "I asked her out."

I raised my eyebrows again. "No way!"

She smiled immediately. "Yes way!"

"Wow," I nodded, I was happy for her. Then I realized Heather would be dating my therapist... "How?"

"I bumped into her in town," She smiled more, it was actually sweet to see how happy she was. "We started talking and then I just asked her out."

I nodded. "Cool."

Her smile vanished. "Cool?" She paused a bit. "Is that really all you have to say?"

I shrugged.

She sighed. "Where's Talia?" She then looked around. "I bet she will be happy at least."

"I am happy for you too," I then put my hand on her shoulder, gaining her attention again. "But you can't talk to T now, she's in bed."

Her face softened immediately. "She's still not better?"

I gave her a look. "She's not sick, Heather," I sighed. "She needs time."

"I know," She looked down then. "I just hoped she would be better by now."

I slowly nodded.

Heather looked up, probably thinking about T who was sleeping upstairs. "I hope she gets better soon," She then looked at me. "I mean, I hope she can process it soon."

"Me too," I slowly nodded. "Only time will tell..."

I was waiting in the waiting room. I hated waiting rooms. Whenever I wanted to do something to keep myself busy, it was my time to go. But when I didn't do anything, I could sit and wait for so long!

I was thinking about my conversation with Heather this morning. It occurred to me how much our relationship had changed. We went from nearly hating each other to... friends, I guess? It's just amazing how much a relationship can change if both parties really put the work into it. And, I never thought I'd say it, Heather isn't actually that bad.

"Leah."

I looked up and saw Eva smile at me. She nodded, motioning me that I could follow her back to her office.

I got up and walked back to her office. On our way over, we usually didn't say that much. I wondered if we were both too shy to start making a conversation.

Once at her office, she motioned me to the regular spot I could sit in while she went to sit down at her regular spot.

"So," She started, crossing one leg over the other. "How have things been?"

I slowly nodded. "Ok, I think."

Eva nodded slowly but she didn't say anything. It fascinated me how she seemed to understand when to be quiet and wait, and when to talk. I always believed she must understand body language really well.

"T crashed," I finally said. "She keeps going into our children's bedroom. She can't deal with the sight but she keeps going back, I don't get that."

She slowly nodded. "It's actually a really normal reaction."

I raised my eyebrows. "Is it?"

She nodded. "She can never have the children she wanted, the only thing she has left of them is that room. She needs that room to feel the connection to her children."

I sighed and looked away. "I locked the room," I gulped. "I don't want to see my wife in pain."

"I understand."

I looked back at Eva. "How do I help her?"

A small smile appeared on her face. "Leah," She started. "I think you're doing everything possible to help her. All you need now is time. It takes time to overcome a situation like this. You can't force it."

I let out a sigh. "I wish I could."

She chuckled a bit.

I smiled as I thought about my conversation with Heather again. "So I heard you're going out with Heather."

Instantly, her face reddened. "Let's not change the topic, Leah."

I chuckled now. "She barged into my house to say it, she was so happy you agreed to go out with her."

She kept blushing. She looked away to try to calm down, but failed.

"I'm happy for her," I said, gaining her attention. "She deserves someone good, someone like you, to make her happy."

She smiled a bit. "That's very kind of you."

I smiled too. "I do wonder," I scooted a bit closer. "Did she at least ask you nicely?"

Eva started laughing. "Yes," She laughed some more. "She was very nice and respectful."

"Good," I smiled at her. "Because she can be a handful..."

"I figured," She smiled at me. "But I can take her."

I smiled and nodded. "Perfect."
