Leah's POV

T looked away for a bit before looking at me. "He wants a friend," She said, to which I nodded. "Maybe," She paused a bit. "Leah," She said, looking me in the eyes. "Why don't we adopt a second child?"

I opened my mouth to reply but nothing seemed to come out.

"I know how he feels," She went on. "It breaks my heart to see him play on his own, to be a lonely child here," She paused a bit. "I want him to have a brother or a sister to join his life. I want him to have a sibling on which he can count too."

I listened to everything she was saying, as I didn't want to disrespect her message. But I was still unable to say anything. This was a surprise for me. I don't know why I suddenly got worried. Was I worried I wouldn't be able to be a mother to two children? I didn't know.

"What do you think?" She finally asked. "A second child."

I gulped. "Honestly, baby," I gulped again. "I don't know," I said, immediately seeing her mood go down. "I haven't been thinking about getting a second one. I like our family now."

"Me too," She also leaned back on the couch, seemingly relaxing. "It's great," She smiled at me. "It's been wonderful to have our little boy," She let out a breath. "I'm sure he's happy and thankful he can be here, as our son," She looked away briefly, in the direction of his toys. "But maybe," She looked at me. "We can do even better?"

I slowly shook my head while a small smile appeared on my face. "Another one, really?" I chuckled a bit. "Same age?"

She shrugged. "Does it matter?"

"Well, if you want someone to play with him, then maybe," I said, gaining a nod from her. "Boy or girl?"

She looked at me. "I want a child," She said determinedly. "Gender, race, hair color, eye color, all of that, doesn't matter."

I smiled and took her hand in mine. At moments like this, I was so proud to call her my wife. "Me too."

She smiled. "I'll make a call tomorrow to check our options."

I slowly nodded.

"Now," She said, taking the remote in her hand again. "There was this great movie I wanted to see."

I smiled more and let myself rest in T's great embrace.

When T had called the center, we were able to visit pretty soon. It almost seemed as if they were really happy about us and how we took care of Emil, so we were let in without any other tests. Which I'm not going to complain about.

We parked at the center. I let out a deep breath as I recognized the building we met Emil in. The building that changed our lives.

T walked to me. She put her hand on my shoulder. "Are you ready?"

I looked at her. I smiled when I saw Emil in her arms. "Yeah," I then looked at Emil. "Are you ready for this tiger?"

Emil nodded.

I looked at T. "Let's go."

We walked to the center. Once we entered, I noticed how Emil got smaller somehow. He didn't seem to feel that comfortable. I wondered if he really did feel alright about being here.

The woman at the reception smiled when she saw us. "Hello," She smiled more when she spotted Emil. "Hi Emil," She gently shook his hand. "Do you remember me?"

Emil looked from her to us, then he nuzzled into T's chest.

"I think it's a bit much for him to be back." I said, trying to justify Emil's behavior.

"Probably," The woman said before looking back at us. "So, a second child I hear?"

We both nodded.

"We're ready to have another one," T explained. "And we think it would be good for Emil to have someone to grow up with."

The woman nodded. "So you're looking for a child that's about his age?"

While I nodded, T shrugged. She wasn't kidding when she said she didn't care about any of that. She really just wanted a child.

"Let's go this way," The woman said as she led us towards the same hallway we found Emil in. "These are the rooms for the youngest children," She said, looking at us. "Ranging from birth to about 2 years old."

"Birth?" T seemed utterly shocked when she heard that.

I nudged her gently before looking around.

"And here - " The woman went on, talking to T.

While they were gone, I found myself looking around. I took the time to really look around all the rooms. I saw many children but most of them were asleep. It seemed this was their nap time...

In the corner of my eye, I saw that there was a boy looking at me from afar. When I turned to look at him, he jolted away, back in his room.

I slowly made my way to that room. When I entered, I saw a rather sad-looking room. I looked around and saw the boy in the corner. He seemed afraid.

I immediately knelt. "Hello," I said softly, so as to not alarm him. "My name is Leah, what's your name?"

He didn't look at me, he kept his face hidden. He seemed mortified.

I slowly closed the door, hoping this would calm him down. "I know what it's like to be afraid of others," I said softly, and this time I gained his attention. "People can be mean."

Slowly, his face came into full view. He nodded.

"I'm sorry people were mean to you," I let out a breath. "It's no fun, is it?"

He looked at me in wonder.

I smiled a bit. "What's your name ?"

He gulped. He looked down a few times, clearly unsure about himself. "Jin."

I smiled when I heard his name and his voice. "That's a beautiful name."

He smiled a bit.

"Do you have friends here, Jin?"

He slowly shook his head.

"Would you like to have a friend?"

He slowly nodded.

"To play?"

He nodded again.

I smiled more. "About a year ago, my wife and I got a boy from here. He's our son now. But he wants a friend."

Again his eyes beamed with curiosity. He seemed to think about whatever I was saying.

"I'd love for you to meet him." I smiled.

When he saw me smile, he smiled too. I wondered if he was copying me. Maybe that meant he trusted me?

Suddenly the door opened, and Jin hid his face again.

I looked at the door and saw T, Emil, and the woman. I motioned T to kneel, which she did. "This is Jin," I said softly, so as to not alarm him. "He was looking at me."

T looked from me to Jin. She seemed to catch on that this boy had found me, as Emil found her before.

"Jin isn't ready to be adopted yet," The woman suddenly said. "He's not social enough, he doesn't talk."

Before I could say anything, the woman pulled us out of the room.
