- A few weeks later -

Leah's POV

After my talk with T, she seemed to finally realize that the miscarriage wasn't her fault. It seemed that her healing process could begin at last.

At first, she stayed in the bedroom but started talking to me and Heather. She started living again, in there. Then, after some time, T started leaving the bedroom. She tried spending time with Heather and me. She tried talking to us. She tried keeping herself busy. Slow, tiny steps.

Heather had stayed with us during all this time. She had made it clear she'd stay as long as we needed her to. And I actually enjoyed having someone extra to take care of T.

Overall, things were finally going better.

It was morning and I was making breakfast for us. I knew T would be here in 15 minutes, Heather would be here sooner. Heather would have to go to work and thus woke up earlier.

As I finished Heather's plate, she arrived in the kitchen. She smiled. "That looks so good," She sat down at the table. "Thanks, Leah."

I smiled at her and continued to make breakfast for T and me.

"So, she's doing much better, isn't she?"

I nodded. "I'm happy she is," I then turned around to face Heather while the food was cooking. "It's thanks to our efforts, we helped her."

Heather smiled a bit but it vanished pretty soon.

I frowned. "What's wrong?"

She looked at me. "I'm genuinely happy that Talia is doing better because that was our goal, but I think I've outstayed my welcome," She paused a bit. "I don't think I should stay much longer."

"I understand," I paused too, allowing us both to think some more about this. "I really do want to thank you for what you did for us," I smiled a bit. "I don't think I could've done this without you."

She smiled a bit too. "You're underestimating yourself," She looked away briefly. "Talia is in good hands with you."

I smiled and turned back around. I was blushing. I never could've imagined her saying that to me. It meant so much to hear this from her, from T's best friend. It felt as if I finally got her blessing to be with T. It felt great.

"Morning," We both looked up as T entered the kitchen too. She walked to me and pecked my lips before sitting down at the table too. "It smells amazing in here," She then looked at what Heather was eating. "And that looks amazing."

Heather chuckled. "It is amazing, your wife can cook."

I smiled and finished T's plate. I put it on the table and gave it to T. "Here you go, baby," I smiled as I saw her dig into the meal. It was so good to see her eat. She was really doing much better. "Can I have some too?"

She looked at me and took a piece before feeding me.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Heather look at us. I had seen her look at us often these past days and I wondered what it was about. I guess it's because she's happy for T.

When we all finished our meals, I cleared the table. "I'm going to get changed," I said and walked to T, pecking her lips. "Have a good day, Heather." I smiled at her before going upstairs.

Talia's POV

I smiled at Leah as she walked away. However, I spotted Heather looking pretty upset. I looked at her then. "Everything alright?"

She looked at me then. "Yeah..."

I leaned in closer. "But...?"

She sighed deeply. "I've been thinking."

"About?"

She looked down and gulped. "How does it feel?" She looked at me, she seemed so shy. "Is it really that good?"

I raised my eyebrows. "What?"

She gulped again. "A relationship," She started fidgeting with her fingers. "When I see you and Leah together," She sighed deeply. "It makes me want a relationship too," She looked at me. "It makes me realize what I'm missing."

I raised my eyebrows when I heard this. I hadn't expected her to say anything like this. I always saw her as this free bird. A person who likes to hang out with many people but does not attach themselves.

When she realized I wasn't responding immediately, she looked down again. "Nevermind, it's stupid."

She got up, ready to leave, but I held her wrist. She looked at me. "It's not stupid, Heather," I pulled her back down so she'd sit again. "Everyone wants to feel loved and wanted," I showed her a small smile. "And in your darkest time, you've got someone who brings you the light."

She smiled a bit too. "That sounds all so magical," She sighed. "It sounds too good to be true."

"It sounds good because it is good," I put my hand on hers. "You will find someone too, don't sweat too much about it now. It'll happen when it's supposed to happen."

She slowly nodded but didn't seem convinced. She seemed really down. I hadn't seen her like this in a while. I wasn't used to seeing this softer side of hers.

"Heather," I scooted closer to her. "You really don't have to lose hope," I made her look at me. "You're a beautiful woman, anyone would be lucky to have you."

She looked at me. "Do you really think so?"

"Of course," I showed her a smile. "You're amazing, I mean, you helped me when I really needed you."

She slowly smiled. "Of course, I did. You're my best friend, Talia."

"I know," I smiled too. "But I really appreciate it," I pulled my hand back. "And the lucky woman who will find you, will also appreciate that."

She smiled a bit. "I should get going."

"Yeah," We both got up. We walked to the front door. Heather was putting on her jacket and shoes. "Have a good day at school."

She looked at me and gave me a look. "Yes, mom." She joked but didn't seem to realize the impact of her words yet.

I gulped and looked away.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Talia," She immediately hugged me. "I'm so stupid," She pulled back to look at me. "I'm so sorry, the words slipped my mouth before I could think about them."

I slowly nodded. "It's alright," I slowly smiled. "I get it."

She still seemed worried. "I'm really sorry."

"It's ok, don't worry about it."

She slowly nodded. "I'll make dinner tonight, ok?"

I smiled a bit more. "I'll keep you to that."

She finally smiled too. "I hope so," She then took her bag. "I'll see you tonight, take care."

"I will," I smiled as I watched her leave. "Bye."
