Leah's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night, suddenly. I took my time to get my bearings before trying to figure out why I had woken up.

I looked to my right, T seemed deep asleep as I heard her occasional snore. She was deeply asleep, so she didn't wake me up.

I slowly sat up, looking around in the pitch darkness. I hated darkness, I was so afraid of it, still. I had to admit, ever since writing a book about my fear of darkness, I seemed to have a better way of dealing with that fear.
So, instead of turning on all the lights, I walked to the door of our bedroom and left the room, then I turned on the lights in the hallway.

I looked around, nothing. Not a sound. Maybe the boys? But how would I have heard them? I shrugged and went to their room anyway.

As I approached their bedroom, I made sure to tiptoe even more as not to make any sound. I also turned off the lights.

I slowly opened the door and looked inside. They were both in their beds, seemingly asleep. But, just to be sure, I stepped in and inspected them both.
Jin was asleep. He didn't even move around, as he did before he'd wake up.
I walked to Emil's bed and noticed he wasn't lying down. He was sitting. As our eyes linked, I knew he was awake. Without saying a word, I picked him up and got us both out of the room.

I gently closed the door and looked at Emil. "Why are you awake, tiger?"

He shrugged. Instead of his usual smile, he seemed rather upset.

I frowned a bit. "Let's go downstairs for a nice hot chocolate."

He looked at me and nodded.

We went to the kitchen. I had him sit down while I made the hot chocolate. While I was cooking the milk, Emil stayed quiet, something I wasn't used of him. I knew something was wrong.

I finished our drinks and sat down in front of him. "Here you go, tiger." I put his hot chocolate in front of him.

He looked at it before looking at me.

I smiled a bit. "Had a bad dream?"

He shook his head.

"How come you're awake then?"

He shrugged again and looked away.

I sighed and looked at him, observing him. I tried to figure out what had happened, what had gotten him so upset. Maybe he was just tired. I wouldn't smile and laugh either if I was exhausted...

He looked at me again. "What time is it?"

I looked at the clock. "It's almost 2."

His eyes got a bit bigger, as if he was surprised to hear my answer. "It's late."

I nodded, agreeing with him. "After we've had this drink, we'll both sleep peacefully."

He looked at me. "Did you hear me?"

I looked at him, did I hear him? I had woken up suddenly, but was it because I had heard him? Would that be possible?

Without waiting for my response, he looked away.

"I don't know," I finally said, gaining his attention. "I woke up but I don't know if it is because I heard you," I scooted closer to him, reaching for his tiny face. "But I'm here, aren't I?"

Finally a small smile. He nodded.

I smiled. "Now drink your hot chocolate, before it gets cold."

He smiled and nodded before grabbing the cup and drinking it.
