Leah's POV

"Jin?" I asked, I kept my tone lower as I figured it might scare him off otherwise. Even though he was probably in his room, I still looked in every room, just to make sure. I didn't want to miss him, I had to talk to him. I had to explain the situation from downstairs to him. "Jin?" I asked again before gently entering the bedroom.

There he was, seated on the ground. He wasn't doing anything, he was simply looking down. Next to him was the puzzle we took from Eva. He had completed it but would occasionally break it apart to put it back together again.

I slowly walked to him and sat down with him. At first, I just looked at him. I observed him. It was easier for me to try to understand his state of mind by just looking at him. Jin was someone who'd show a lot of his feelings in his behavior.

At some point, he looked up at me. Usually, you'd expect your child to be upset to hear one of his parents call him not normal. But not Jin. He looked alright. It almost seemed as if he wasn't fazed by what T had said. But I knew better than that.

I showed him a small smile. I still didn't say anything. It wasn't the right time yet.

He looked back down. Then he looked at the puzzle, took a piece of the puzzle, and was playing with it. This was his way of processing what had just happened.

I also took a piece of the puzzle. I made sure to take a piece that would fit perfectly in the piece he had taken. I then started playing with it as well.

We sat there, for a while. We didn't say anything, we didn't look at each other, we just played with the piece of the puzzle we had.

At some point, Jin looked up at me. I knew now he was ready to talk, so I looked up at him. I put my piece down on the ground. He looked at it and seemed to realize his piece would fit perfectly in mine. He took his piece and put it in mine, then he smiled. I smiled too.

He looked back at me. His smile slowly vanished. "Tata sad."

I slowly nodded.

"My fwault."

"No, Jinnie," I showed him a small smile. "Tata is sad because she can't help you." I said honestly. There really was no point in not being honest with him. He'd know.

He looked down. "My fwault."

"No, Jinnie," I repeated. "We just have to work together," I said, gaining his attention. "Tata has to learn to be patient with you," I slowly nodded. "And you have to try to talk to tata."

He pouted, he was visibly really sad.

"Remember how upset dragon was when his mommy didn't understand him?"

He looked at me and immediately nodded.

"So how did dragon get better?"

He tilted his head to the side, thinking about the story. "He talk."

"He talked to...?"

He thought some more. "To mommy."

"Yes," I smiled a bit. "He talked to his mommy. And his mommy understood," I finally reached out for him. "Because his mommy understands him."

He slowly nodded. "Tata not."

"It will be hard for tata to understand you but we all have to try, right?"

He slowly nodded.

"Tata really wants to help you and be a good mother to you," I showed him a small smile. "It's just hard for her to talk to you because you don't say much," I slowly pulled him up and put him on my lap. "And I find that upsetting because you're such a wonderful boy. I want tata to see that too."

Finally, he smiled a bit.

"You shouldn't hide how wonderful you are."

He nodded. "I try."

"Good boy," I kissed his cheek. "Love you, Jinnie."

"Love you too, mama."

______________________________

Talia's POV

I was still breathing heavily while the tears were streaming down my face. I was overcome with great sadness and anger.

I was so upset that Leah didn't understand me. I really tried to connect with Jin, I tried to talk to him, or play with him, I fed him, I bathe him, I read stories to him... But he didn't talk to me. He barely talked... How can I create a connection with him if he refuses to let me into his heart?

It angered me that nothing I tried worked. What's the point of trying if there's not even a slight change? Why would I keep trying? I know he is my son, and I love him deeply, but do I really know him? Everything I know about him is things I see or things I hear from Leah and Emil.

I walked to the counter and took a piece of paper. I wiped my eyes clean with it.

"Tata?"

I gulped as I heard Emil's soft voice behind me. Just by the sound of his voice, I knew he was worried. He was scared. He needed assurance, from me.

I let out a deep breath before turning around. "Hey, nounours," I walked to him, only to kneel next to him. "What are you doing here?"

He blinked a few times, he was really worried. "Why sad?"

I gulped, trying to keep the tears inside. I refused to have my son see me cry. I wanted him to know I was strong. "It's nothing, nounours."

He looked down briefly. "Mama talk about Jin."

I looked at him, this intrigued me. "Did she?"

He nodded.

"What did she say?"

He smiled before motioning me to follow him. He guided me to the living room, and had me sit down on the couch. He went to his little play corner before coming to me with dragon. He put dragon on my lap. Then he pointed at it. "That Jin."

I couldn't help but smile a bit. "This isn't Jin, it's dragon."

"Jin like dragon," He nodded, his smile only got bigger. "He need help."

When he said that, my anger and sadness all vanished. What he was saying, intrigued me a lot. Because it was coming from him. "How can we help?"

He smiled more before pointing at his ears.

In response, I felt my ears before smiling a bit. "We listen."

He nodded. "He need fwamily."

I took a deep breath before looking down at dragon. "Dragon also needs his family to help him," I looked back at him and smiled. "Thank you, nounours."

He looked at me for a bit.

"You helped me understand something important." I clarified.

"Yay!" He exclaimed and raised his tiny arms in the air.

I chuckled before taking him in my arms.
