Talia's POV

"Hey everyone," I waved at my computer screen. I tried to force a small smile onto my face, but it was hard to be genuine. "Hi."

They waved back at me. "Hi, Talia."

I could already tell they were ready to fire some questions at me. I was dreading them and, at the same time, I wanted to talk about the situation. It was an odd situation, it was confusing.

"As we're meeting this way," Charlotte started it off. "I'm guessing the test was positive?"

"Positive," Heather started, gaining our attention. "Isn't it odd how we call the bad result positive?"

I sighed. Somehow, I wasn't in the mood for this. "Yes, the test was positive."

"See," Heather started again. "It's almost as if she got good news."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Mary said, completely ignoring Heather's charade. "How is she doing?"

I let out a deep breath. "Bad," I sighed. "It's almost as if that result made her worse."

"Maybe it did," Charlotte said. "It's not exactly the news you want to receive..."

I slowly nodded. "It's just hard seeing her like that," I sighed deeply. "I feel so powerless."

"What are her symptoms?" Mary asked gently.

I exhaled again. "Sore throat, runny nose, coughing all the time, sneezing, she's cold, headaches to the point she can't keep her eyes open, and tired. I see her asleep everywhere."

Heather sat up. "Wait," She said, gaining our attention again. "If she's got the virus, you have to put her in quarantine. She can't be near you or the kids."

I looked away when I heard that. I knew that was the rule, I knew I had to live separately from her until she was better. But I couldn't do that.

"If your partner is sick, they have to self-isolate until 7 days after the last symptoms," Heather said. "It's right here on the website of the government," She looked back at me. "That way you can still come to work and the kids are safe."

"How do you expect me to do that?" I snapped. "I can't put her away like that."

"Those are the rules, Talia!" Heather said, raising her voice a bit. "They're made for a reason."

I sighed and looked away.

"You could get sick too," She kept going, making me more angry. "And the boys too. She could infect everyone."

"She can't infect the boys," I said, looking down. I sighed. "I've brought them to my mother-in-law," I sighed again. "That's for the best."

"For who precisely?" Heather kept going.

I looked back up at the computer screen. I had had it. Even though I knew she was saying the right and rational things, it wasn't what I wanted to hear right now. I wanted support, I needed words of support. Because I felt alone.

Instead, I ended the videocall and closed the computer.

"Baby?" I heard Leah call out.

I let out a breath before going to her. She was laying on the couch, watching tv. "Hey," I said and sat down next to her. I felt her face. "You're heating up," I showed her a small smile. "What can I get you?"

She licked her lips. "Tea."

I smiled. "I'll get it for you, baby," I leaned closer to her. I stopped right when I was near her cheek. I was aware that she could infect me easily, but I somehow didn't mind. I kissed her cheek, gaining a smile from her. That smile is exactly why I made this choice. "I love you."

She looked at me, her eyes were almost closed. "I love you too."

Third person's POV (Heather told us about this conversation)

Heather breathed out as she fell back onto a chair in the kitchen. Eva noticed Heather's mood was down but didn't immediately talk to her. Eva knows it's best to let Heather start the conversation.

After some time, Heather looked at Eva, who was making dinner. "She's so stupid."

Eva nodded, pleased with herself as she was right about Heather's behavior. She turned around. "Who is?"

Heather shrugged.

Eva put the stove down a bit and took a seat at the table too. "What happened, Heather?"

Heather let out a breath, she looked away. "Leah tested positive for the virus," She looked back at Eva, crossing her arms. "Talia didn't put Leah in quarantine. Instead she's locked herself up with Leah! How stupid can she be!"

Eva took a moment to observe her wife. She knew that behind Heather's charade and loud shouting, there was often a different message underneath it. "Why do you think that she's stupid?"

Heather looked at her wife. "Because she's putting herself at risk."

Eva shrugged. "I think it's sweet."

"It's stupid," Heather huffed. "I wouldn't risk my health for anything."

Eva leaned closer. "So if I would be really sick, you'd dump me in a room, lock me up, and would only look back when I'm healthy again?"

Heather looked at her wife, her mouth slightly open. She hadn't expected Eva to put it like that, so blunt. Hearing those words, it had an impact on her, as often Eva's words had... She sighed. "Why do you always make me feel stupid?"

Eva showed her wife a small smile. "You're not stupid," She reached for Heather's hands, holding them in hers. "I just want you to look at things from different points of views."

Heather slowly nodded. "I was too hard on Talia, wasn't I?"

Eva kept her small smile on her face. She wanted her wife to see she wasn't judging her or any of her questions. She knew Heather needed this kind of support. "Maybe, yes," She said, being honest. She also knew Heather needed that too. "You were voicing your opinion, that's alright. Perhaps consider that other people might have different views on things."

Heather sighed before nodding. "I try," She looked down, at their hands. She gently squeezed Eva's hands. "Thank you for helping me understanding things better."

Eva smiled more. "Thank you for listening to me."

Heather smiled too now. "Thank you for being in my life."

Eva giggled a bit. "Thank you for loving me."

"How can I possibly get over that one?" Heather said, gaining a laugh from Eva. "Thank you for being you."

Eva nodded. "You're welcome."

Heather nudged Eva, gaining another laugh from Eva.
