Leah's POV
T entered the room and looked at me. "Where shall we begin?"
I gulped and looked her in the eyes. "What happened between you and Heather?"
T sighed and nodded, it seemed she knew I was going to ask about this subject. I mean, how could I not? I still blamed Heather for this weird tension between T and me.
T walked to me and sat down next to me, she didn't answer immediately, she seemed deep in thoughts.I looked at her, I wanted her to know I was serious about this. I wasn't going to let go now, and she knew.
She let out a deep breath before looking at me. "When you left, I felt miserable," She gulped, it seemed she was having a hard time already. "You should know, I had been feeling lonely for a while. I know you needed to study and work for school but I felt so abandoned..." She sighed. "I guess I went looking for that missing attention elsewhere."
I slowly nodded. "What about Heather?" I was too eager to know the truth.
"When you left, I felt even more lonely," She gulped. "I didn't get out anymore, I didn't eat, I didn't leave our bedroom..." She sighed. "When Heather learned what had happened, she convinced me to go out with her."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"After our night out, she brought me back home," She looked down then, her arms wrapped around herself. She was comforting herself for something, and I already dreaded the rest of her story. "She had comforted me by taking me out, I did feel better," She gulped again. "When I was about to close the door, she stepped forward and kissed me."
I looked down then. I don't know what else I had expected to hear. I knew Heather was out to get to T, I somehow had hoped I was wrong...
"I pushed her away," She said, gaining my attention. "I didn't want that, I pushed her away and closed the door on her face," She turned to me. "That's why she hasn't shown her face anymore."
I slowly nodded.
T let out a breath. "Please talk to me."
"What do you want me to say?"
She shrugged. "Anything, please."
I looked down again. "I warned you for her."
"She was my friend, I didn't - "
"We all saw she had feelings for you," Before she could interfere, I went on: "Nearly all readers on Wattpad on our story saw she had feelings for you. Are you going to ignore so many people?"
"No," She gulped. "I know what it looks like," She looked at me. "But trust me, she has no feelings for me."
I huffed.
"It's true."
I shook my head. "I can't believe you're so blind."
T looked away, she didn't reply anymore, she seemed upset all of a sudden. Normally, I'd comfort her but my anger and disappointment were preventing me from doing so.
I got up and started walking towards the door of our bedroom.
"Leah," She said, making me stop. She still didn't call me 'baby'. "I'm not trying to anger you, I'm not trying to ignore your warnings, I'm just saying what I know."
I turned around and looked at her. "How can you be so sure she has no feelings for you?"
"I just do," She looked down. "She may have kissed me but she didn't do that because she has feelings for me," She gulped. "I don't know what it is, but there's a different reason."
I didn't say anything to that, I simply didn't know what to say to that. Was she saying the truth? Was she honest with me? Somehow I couldn't believe the fact that Heather wouldn't come back. She seemed like the fighter type.
T looked at me. "Despite all of that," She got up and walked to me, she got a hold of my hands. "I don't care what her reason is, I care about us. I want us to be together."
I looked down then.
"Don't you want that?"
I gulped. "I did," I paused, for quite a bit. I was surprised T didn't react to what I said... "I fought for us, I fought against Heather, I fought my feelings and thoughts..." I gulped before looking at her. "When you needed me most, I was there for you. I came back for you. I treated you, I comforted you, I dropped everything for you."
T slowly nodded, a small smile appeared on her face.
I gulped. "But when I needed you," I sniffled. "You weren't there," I looked at her and saw her smile fading. "I felt lonely too, I felt abandoned too, I felt ignored..." I paused, trying to keep tears from falling. "I felt miserable," I gulped. "But despite all of that, I came back for you. Because I thought that's what marriage is, because you mean the world to me, because I promised you to be there for you in good and bad days," I looked her in the eyes. "But you weren't there."
T gulped. She opened her mouth but nothing came out. She seemed really lost for words, as if she hadn't expected me to say these words. Maybe she really didn't know I experienced this whole situation this way... I don't know.
I gulped yet again. "When I came back for you, I thought we'd talk. I thought you'd let me help you," I huffed. "But you pushed me away, you shut me out like I was a stranger..." I gulped again. "Even when you got better, you still didn't talk to me about anything," I looked her in the eyes. "It took you 5 weeks to tell me what you went through, and I even had to ask about it!"
She looked down. "It's difficult for me to express my pain, it's got nothing to do with you," She gulped. "At least I told you about it, right?"
"After I asked about it!"
She kept looking down, she didn't respond anymore. I could tell she wanted to say something but, for some reason, she didn't.
I sighed. "These past few weeks have been a lot," I paused. "It's been so much," I looked at her. "I need time to process what has happened."
Her head shot up at me. "W-what do you mean?"
"I'm going back to my mom's place for a while," I pulled my hands back gently. "I need time to process all of this, I need to go over what has happened, and figure out how I feel about it."
"You can do that here, with me."
"No, T," I stepped back a bit, creating distance between us. "We both need to process what happened, and we both need to look within ourselves to make sure we really want this."
She raised her eyebrows. "I want this," Her eyes got watery. "I want you, I want us, I want you to stay, please."
I looked down then. Even though she was saying everything I wanted to hear for so long, it didn't feel right to me. It didn't feel genuine. "I want this too," I finally said. "That's why I want to process all of this properly so we can move on in a good and healthy manner."
Even though I could see T disagreed, she slowly nodded.
I nodded too, walked to her, kissed her cheek, and then left.
