Leah's POV

We knocked on the front door. "I can't wait to see them." I said, smiling at T.

T nodded. "I wonder what they did all day."

"Yeah," I nodded and looked at the front door. Right then, it opened. I forced a smile. "Hi."

T's parents smiled at us. "There you are."

We entered the house. I immediately looked around, looking for the boys. I wondered where they would be playing.

"How was it?" T asked, she obviously made small talk easier with her parents.

"It was fine," T's mom replied. "They played."

"They're good boys." T's dad said.

I walked to the living room, as I didn't see them anywhere. There I saw them in front of the tv. I smiled. "What are my boys watching?"

They immediately looked at me and smiled. They ran to me and hugged me. I hugged them back tightly.

"Cartoon," Emil finally replied. He pointed at the screen. "That's my favorite."

I smiled and nodded. I then looked at Jin. "What about you, Jinni?"

He smiled slightly at me. "Fun."

"I'm happy to hear you had fun."

"Here are my babies," T said as she joined us in the living room. "I missed you two!" She exclaimed as she was hugging them tightly.

"Look," Emil said, pointing at the tv. "They have mommies too."

We all looked at the tv and noticed a tv show in which the kids had two mothers.

"And they have a daddy," Emil went on. He then looked at us. "Why don't we have a daddy?"

Jin looked shocked at Emil. "We have mommies."

"I know," Emil looked back at us. "I love mommies."

"Turn it off," T's mom said, raising her voice slightly. She immediately grabbed the remote and turned the tv off. "They're way too young for this."

I couldn't help but look annoyed. "Too young for what?"

She looked at me. "We're not talking about this in front of them."

I huffed.

T sensed the tension and thus held my hand.

"They can know about the world," I said, I wasn't able to calm down. "The real world."

T's mom glared at me. "They're way too young for any of this. They shouldn't be wondering why they have two mothers and no father."

I huffed again.

"What are you going to say when they really ask about it?" She said, getting closer to me. "When they ask why they have two mothers and some children don't? What will you say?"

I opened my mouth, ready to fire back. But...

"Love is love."

We all looked down, at Jin. From the attention, he looked down as well. I couldn't help but smile at his reply. In the corner of my eye, I could tell T was happy too.

I looked back at T's mom. "Looks like we don't have to explain a thing."

"This is all just wrong," T's mom kept going. "They shouldn't be talking about any of this. They..." She looked away, she was clearly frustrated. "Ugh, this is all wrong!"

"Honey," T's dad tried, clearly noticing his wife was losing it. "It's ok, we - "

"It's not ok," She looked away. "All of this could have been avoided if our daughter simply would have been married to a nice man."

I sighed.

"If she would have children of her own." She continued.

When she said that, my eyes widened. I immediately looked at T.

T gulped. "Whether I'd be married to a man or not wouldn't change the fact I don't have a uterus," She gulped again, I could tell she was trying to fight her sadness. She walked to the boys. "Come, we're going."

Emil raised his arms, allowing T to pick him up easily. Jin, however, was protesting.

"Ugh, Jin," T exclaimed. "Your mom will take you." She then got up with Emil in her arms and left the house.

I sighed again. "Good job." I said softly.

"This is exactly what I mean," She went on. "The boys, they're lovely but they're nothing like Talia. They're so different. I don't see anything from Talia in them."

I frowned a bit. "They're unique."

"But in grandchildren, you usually see something that reminds you of your own children," She sighed deeply. "These boys are nothing like Talia," She looked down. "And he won't even talk."

"He's got a hard time expressing himself," I walked to Jin. He raised his arms for me, allowing me to easily take him. "You guys know that."

"He doesn't act or talk like a normal child," She breathed out. "He's like a mute."

My jaw dropped when she said that. "If you hold him at that word, he'll never show you his beautiful personality."

"He's not normal, Leah," She went on. "Why didn't you guys take a boy or girl that at least talks? We don't even get a nod or a shake."

I looked at Jin and could tell he was fully aware we were talking about him. I smiled at him, gaining a smile back. "Jin is unique, he's perfect the way he is," I then looked back at them. "It just takes time to get to know him."

"We've known him for months, Leah," She sighed. "Nothing has changed since the first day we met him."

I shrugged. "If you give him time, you'll be rewarded nicely."

She shook her head.

I rolled my eyes before looking at T's dad. "Thanks for babysitting."

He nodded and smiled politely at me.

I walked outside the house and to the car. I put Jin in his car seat before going to the driver's seat. As I entered the car, I could tell T was really affected by what her parents had said. I decided to let it be, for now, and drove us home. I didn't want to get into it in front of the kids.

We arrived home. We fed the boys before putting them to bed.

"That's that," I breathed out as I let myself fall onto the couch next to T. I looked at her, she was still looking rather sad. "Baby," I said, gaining her attention. "You know she's just saying things."

"Yeah," She breathed out. "I just wish she would think before she said anything," She looked at me. "It makes me wonder whether we made the right choice by adopting them," She looked down. "What if we're not giving them the right life?"

I tilted my head to the side. "I'm hearing your mom talk now," I scooted closer to her. "Without us, those boys might still be in that center. We've given them a warm home."

She nodded but I could tell she wasn't really listening.

I reached for her face and made her look at me. "No matter what people say, we are their parents. We're the people they look up to, the people they look for comfort, the people they look for love. They call us their moms," I showed her a small smile. "We're doing an amazing job."

Finally, she smiled. "We are, aren't we?"

I smiled too and nodded.
