Leah's POV

It's been 2 weeks since I moved out of the house, it's been 2 weeks since I last saw T... In all that time, not once did she try to contact me. She didn't call, she didn't text, she didn't come by... Just nothing... She clearly had moved on from me, maybe I should do that too?

"Hey honey," Mom said as she was seated in front of me. "How are you feeling?"

I shrugged. "Better than I expected..." I sighed. "It seems I experience the pain more frequently..."

She showed me an apologetic smile. "Maybe you should go to the doctor, it couldn't hurt..."

I slowly nodded.

"Shall I make an appointment for you?"

I looked at her and slowly smiled. "Thanks, mom."

She nodded before taking a sip from her coffee. "So, what do you want for breakfast?"

I looked around the table. My eyes going over all the delicious goods, yet all I could think about was what it would do to my body afterward. I gulped. "I guess I'll just take cereal, that's safest."

She slowly nodded before taking a slice of bread and some jam.

We ate breakfast in comfortable silence. Even though nothing was said between us, I felt mom stare at me. She was worried, I knew she was. It hadn't been the first time that I experienced a bad night due to my health. In the past, I shrugged it off because I thought it wasn't that present but nowadays, it was.

Suddenly, my phone went off. I took it and saw T's mom was calling me. I sighed deeply.

"Who is it?"

I showed the caller ID to mom, she immediately looked away. She also knew I'd get some critique thrown at me.

I let out a deep breath before answering the phone. "Hello."

"Leah, what have we heard?"

I sighed. "I don't know, what is it?"

"Oh?" She huffed. "Are you joking about this matter?"

I looked down. "I'm not," I gulped. "I didn't want any of this to happen. When I married T, I meant what I said. I want to be with her forever."

"It doesn't seem like it, you left her!"

I let my head fall backward. "T wanted time to think about us, I gave her the room to do so."

"Marriage is between 2 people who are loyal to each other and who support each other through the good and bad days," She said to which I nodded, I knew all of this. I had to hear this quite often already. "You left your wife during the bad days, you broke your promise to her and God."

I buried my face in my hands. "I didn't break any promises, I just gave T some time to think about - "

"You two are married."

"Yes, I know, I - "

"So act like a married couple, talk to each other, and fix this. We do not want a divorce."

I raised my eyebrows. "I don't want that either, I love her too much for that."

"Divorce is a bad label, especially for women," She said, making me roll my eyes. Sometimes I couldn't handle her old-fashioned views on life. "We expect you to take your responsibility."

"Yes, I will."

"Good," She cleared her throat. "We'll wait to hear some news." She then hung up.

I let out a deep breath while putting my phone down. "What was that?"

"Was it that bad?" Mom asked, she had this apologetic facial expression.

I shrugged. "She's right though, T and I haven't spoken for a long time," I gulped. "I should go back to her to talk about our marriage and our future."

Mom slowly nodded. "Only if you're ready for that, honey."

I slowly nodded. Was I ready for it? Was I ready to face T? Was I ready to talk about our future? What if she wanted to get a divorce? What if Heather's at the house? What if T had moved on? I looked down. "I'm scared."

Mom reached for my hand and held it in hers. "You'll have to face her eventually," She said to which I slowly nodded. "I can go with you." She suggested.

I looked at mom and slowly nodded. "I think I'd like that."

I had been preparing for my conversation with T, I had been going over any possible scenario that I could witness once I'd get inside the house. My heart beat faster with every minute we got closer to the house. It upset me greatly, realizing I was nervous, maybe even afraid, to talk to my wife. I was afraid of what she might say whereas before, I was happy... It upset me how things changed so drastically so fast.

"Are you ok?" Mom asked as she reached for my hand again. We were parked at the house, we hadn't gone in yet. Mom clearly saw I was having a hard time.

I gulped. "I just want things to go back to the way they were."

"Of course, honey," Mom showed me a small smile. "Tell her that, ok?"

I slowly nodded.

"Come," She patted my leg before getting out of the car, in doing so forcing me gently to get out as well. We walked to the front door, there she looked at me. "You still have the keys?"

I nodded before taking them out of my pocket. I opened the front door and entered the house. I was happy T didn't change the locks while I was gone, at least she left some kind of opening for me to get back...

While I walked more into the house, mom stayed further behind me, as if giving me the opportunity to face T on my own.

I looked around, nothing in the house had changed, apart from my stuff that wasn't there anymore. It smelled the same, it looked the same, it was my home. Except, T wasn't there...

I looked at mom. "She's not here."

"Are you sure?"

I nodded until I heard a sound coming from upstairs. My head shot upwards, and I gulped. "T?"

"Probably," Mom replied. "Go."

I looked at mom. "Aren't you coming too?"

"Leah," She walked to me, caressing my cheeks. "You should do this alone, Talia has to see how you reach out to her. I'll be right here if you need me, ok?"

I slowly nodded.

"Now go," She motioned upstairs. "Your wife is waiting."

I gulped but nodded. I walked to the stairs and went upstairs. I looked in every room, even though I knew I'd find T in our bedroom.

When I reached the bedroom, I was surprised she wasn't there, it was empty. But I heard a sound, mom did too...

I frowned before entering the bedroom nevertheless. Yet, no one was there... Where is she?

I exited the room and stopped at the only room that was closed: the bathroom. "T?"

No answer.

"T?" I gently knocked on the door. "T, it's me." I knocked again.

Still no answer.

I gulped as I thought this was odd. T would reply, she'd do something, she wouldn't remain quiet. Unless... Maybe Heather's with her. Maybe they're having an affair now. Maybe she's cheating on me.

"T?" I raised my voice, knocking again on the door. Even though the door wasn't locked, something prevented me from actually opening the door. I didn't know why, she's my wife so I wouldn't see anything I hadn't seen before.

I still received no answer.

I took a deep breath before taking the handle in my hand and opening the door. Then my jaw dropped.
