Leah's POV
"Here we are," Heather said as we reached Eva's hospital room. "Before we go in," She started and turned to look at us. "Go easy on Eva, it was an exhausting night for her."
"Of course," Charlotte nodded. "Don't worry."
I nodded, agreeing with Charlotte.
Heather let out a deep breath before opening the door. "Hey honey," She walked to Eva. Eva was in her bed, she looked tired but happy. I could tell she went through a lot. "Look who I brought." She said as she sat down with Eva.
Eva looked at us, it's now that I could see how tired her eyes looked. And I wondered: was it good we were here? Maybe she needed some rest? Maybe she wanted some time to get adjusting to her new reality.
"Hey," But Eva wouldn't be Eva if she tried to be nice and welcome anyone. "Come on in."
Charlotte smiled and quickly entered. She stood next to Eva's bed, having no problem with the state Eva was in. I wondered if I really was the only one that saw this...
I slowly made my way to Eva, I couldn't help but look at her. I felt bad for being here. I felt like I was intruding somehow.
And judging by Eva's face, I could tell she could read my face. She took my hand in hers, gently squeezing it. "I'm happy you're here."
I smiled a bit.
"So, do you want to meet our daughter?" Heather said, she couldn't hide the big smile on her face.
Charlotte and I smiled too. "A girl?" Charlotte asked, getting a nod from Heather. "I knew it!"
I chuckled.
Heather went to the crib and took out their daughter. She slowly walked to us and showed us her daughter, our godchild. The way Heather was looking at her daughter... It warmed my heart.
When I first met Heather, as my teacher, I never thought she was able to show so much compassion to anyone but herself. But look at how far she's come... Whilst everyone was looking at the baby, I was smiling at Heather. I was truly happy for her."What's her name?" Charlotte asked, getting me out of my thoughts.
Heather smiled before looking at Eva, giving her the chance to say the name.
Eva smiled back at Heather, clearly appreciating that gesture before looking at us. "Hannah."
Charlotte and I nodded. "Beautiful name." I said.
Eva smiled before looking back at her baby girl.

After about 20 minutes, Charlotte and I decided to leave. I said we had to give Heather and Eva some time alone, and I could see Eva thanking me with her eyes.
As we were out of the room, Heather thanked us for being here. She appreciated it.
Charlotte left but Heather stopped me. She wanted to talk. We went to sit down on a nearby bench.
"Is everything ok?" I asked as I saw how worried Heather seemed.
She looked down briefly. "I'm so happy right now," She looked at me for a bit before looking away. "I have everything I ever wanted."
I smiled. "I'm happy for you too."
She looked at me again. "I wish my best friend would be happy for me too."
When she said that, the atmosphere changed. I sighed deeply. "I'm sorry, Heather." I mean, what else could I say? T was behaving stupidly but I couldn't change it.
