Leah's POV

After our visit to the doctor. T fell silent. She went from euphoric to depressed in a matter of seconds. And it broke my heart.

In the days that followed, I made the appointment for the surgery. T fought me on it for a while but I was able to convince her to get it done.

Ever since the surgery, she stayed at home. She spent her days in bed, she didn't talk to me or anyone else, she barely ate or drank. I feared for the worst...

I was downstairs, cleaning the dishes. I had tried to have T eat a warm meal for dinner. But she refused. It hurt me to throw away yet another plate of food. It worried me so much. We can't go on like this, she can't go on like this. But, what can I do?

I was finishing up the last plate when the doorbell rang. I put the plate down and went to the front door. I opened the door and smiled a bit. "Hey, come in."

T's friends all entered. "Hey, Leah." They said.

"Are we interrupting?" Charlotte asked as they were hanging away their coats.

"No," I motioned them to follow me. We went to the living room and sat down. "I'm actually really happy to talk to someone."

They looked at each other before looking at me. "How is she doing?" Heather asked.

I sighed deeply. "Not good," I gulped. "She doesn't eat, or drink, or talk, or get out of bed. There's just no life inside her," I started getting emotional, it seemed the whole situation affected me more than I wanted to admit. "I don't know what to do..."

Charlotte immediately got a hold of my hand. "It's going to be ok."

I looked down. "I don't know."

"Has she talked to someone about this?" Mary tried. "A therapist?"

I shook my head. "I called her therapist and she came by but T didn't react at all. It's just useless."

"But what did she say?" Heather frowned. "It's her job to help Talia."

I gulped. "She keeps trying to get through to T," I looked up at them, a tear rolling down my face. "What if it's too late?"

I could see how all their faces dropped. It's almost as if I said the one thing we were all fearing.

"No," Heather said. "It's never too late. We just need to support her and help her through this dark time."

"But how?" I sniffled. "I've tried so many things but she doesn't even want to look at me. It's almost as if she's angry with me."

"Of course not," Mary leaned closer to me too. I could tell she wanted to comfort me but she wasn't as close to me as Charlotte. "This whole situation is just a lot for her. She would never be angry at you. She loves you."

I sniffled more.

Charlotte started squeezing my hand, as if comforting me this way. "It's going to be ok, Leah. You have to believe in that."

"Is there anything we can do?" Mary asked.

I wiped my tears away with my free hand. "I can't take it much longer," I sniffled again. "It's all too much."

"What is?" Heather asked. She seemed like she was the only one that really wanted to solve this immediately whereas Mary and Charlotte mainly wanted to comfort me.

"I'm so scared," I looked at Heather then. "We've seen T like this before," I looked down. "I'm so scared she might sink like last time," I gulped. "What if..." I looked at Heather. "What if she tries to hurt herself again?" I then burst out in tears.

Charlotte immediately pulled me in for a hug. She patted my back, trying to calm me down.

"Do you want us to talk to her?" Mary asked.

"No," Heather replied. "If she doesn't talk to Leah, she won't talk to anyone else."

"How do you know that?" Charlotte asked Heather.

"Because Talia loves Leah," Heather simply stated. "The person she cares about the most is Leah. So if she's not reacting to Leah, she will to no one."

I was surprised about how Heather was able to say these words. Not long ago, she would mock me or my relationship with T. Yet here she was now, helping me and defending my relationship with T.

"We have to do something though." Charlotte said.

"Agreed," Heather pushed me and Charlotte apart so she could look at me. "Do you have the number of Talia's therapist?"

I nodded.

"Can I have it?"

I frowned but took my phone. I looked for the number and showed it to Heather. She copied it to her phone and then called the number. "Wait," I said. "What are you doing?"

We were all looking at Heather, wondering what she was going to do. "Yes, hello, you're speaking with Talia Jacob's best friend," She said, her tone stern. "My friend doesn't eat or drink, she doesn't get out of bed, and she's unresponsive to her soulmate," She said, making me raise my eyebrows in shock. "If you can't do your job well, then we will find someone who can! Goodnight!" And she hung up. She then looked at us. "That's how you deal with incompetent people."

I was just shocked, as were Mary and Charlotte. "How is this going to help Talia?" Charlotte asked.

Heather looked at me. "I'll find a better therapist for her but what she needs now is you."

I gulped. "I can't stick by her side all the time, can I?"

Heather frowned. "Try to stay near her all the time. I'll get my stuff and stay over for as long as you need me to."

Charlotte and Mary were shocked and looked at me. They clearly were curious to hear my response.

"Y-you want to move in here?" I asked to which Heather nodded. "Why?"

"I want to help you and Talia," She looked down then. This was a sign that she felt vulnerable, she was getting real with me now. "I don't want anything to happen to either of you, I'd hate to be at home while you two are in need of support. I'd hate to have failed as a friend."

Charlotte and Mary smiled then. "That's really sweet of you."

I smiled too then. "It is," I put my hand on her knee, which was a huge thing for us. "Thank you."

She nodded. "Of course."
