Stress

"I'm not pregnant." You say after reading the test. Both Bucky and Steve drop their heads. You can tell they're upset. You knew they wanted it to be positive.

"I know you're both upset, part of me is too because I do want a baby, just not yet. I'm not ready. I need to figure out how to control my powers first, this is a good thing."

Steve grabs both yours and Bucky's hands. "She's right. We have time." Bucky still says nothing. "Buck, this is good. We can wait until we know we're all ready. And we can prepare. So when we do have kids we know they'll be safe and we know we can handle managing their powers."

He knows you're right. This wasn't exactly the next time to have kids. You still weren't feeling yourself 100%. But you were working on it. And you were almost there.

"I know. But for five minutes I had something that I was looking forward to. I know a lot has happened and it's been over a year since we've been together I just wanted to take a step towards a future other than missions and being an Avenger."

Steve sympathizes with Bucky because he felt the exact same way. But just because you weren't pregnant didn't mean you couldn't move forward with your relationship.

"There are plenty of other ways we can move forward without having a kid yet." Bucky nods, remembering the conversation they had with the team earlier. They didn't want you to catch on so they switched the topic.

"It's okay. It wasn't the right time. So we'll wait." Bucky says. "Are you okay sweetheart?" Steve asks, pulling you into his lap.

"Yea. I'm okay as long as both of you are. We're still young, I mean, I'm still young so I have plenty of time to make babies, you two on the other hand, well let's just be glad you have super soldier serum..."

Both men laugh and playfully shove you. "That was a low blow. We can still make babies. Do you not remember the other night or do I need to remind you?"

"Oh no. I am still healing from that. Having both of you was quiet the workout for me. In fact I think we should take a nap because I'm tired."

"Okay let's take a nap." You all lay down and after a few minutes Bucky breaks the silence. "Why did you think you were pregnant? Were you feeling sick?"

"No, I'm late. But that could be for a number of reasons. I should've taken the test before getting your hopes up. I forgot my body has been under so much stress lately it's probably just that."

"It's okay doll. Get some rest and maybe later we can help relieve some of that stress." He says and kisses you. You laugh and push him off. "You should relieve each other's stress, and let me watch..."
