Downstairs

The next day you go downstairs to talk to Steve. You felt bad for leaving him alone all night while you slept with Bucky and the twins because you knew he really didn't mean what he had said to Bucky. It was too far, but it was out of hurt and anger.

"Hey." You say as you walk into the bedroom downstairs. Steve was laying on the bed watching tv. He sat up quickly and looked at you surprised to see you downstairs, even in the same room with him.

"Hey." He says as he sits up and turns the tv off quickly. You sit on the bed next to him and he starts to tear up. You put your hand on his knee as he starts crying and try and comfort him.

You know he's been going through a lot too after what he said and you know he regrets it because he didn't mean it. Twelve hours without you was punishment enough for him. He was truly kind and loved you and Bucky with all his heart but him and Bucky had always jumped to conclusions. It was one of their downfalls.

"I know you didn't mean what you said, but I need to know why. Because Bucky thought you were leaving us for Peggy? But he explained why, so why did you keep going? Why did the fight continue?" You ask him as he continues to cry.

"He thought I was leaving you all. My family. I've always wanted a family and I love you. All of you. I just got mad, it wasn't right but I got mad because I would never leave you. I didn't want him to think of me like that, and now I made it worse. I ruined everything." He says.

"Baby you didn't. We have a lot to get through. You and Bucky have a lot to get through. You need to start with really telling him that you don't think that at all, you need to convince him that you mean it because you know it'll eat him alive. And I still wanna know why those were the words you chose."

He shakes his head and cries harder. "I don't know. He was talking about the baby, he said he just wanted to stop fighting and get our baby back and it honestly just came out of nowhere, I didn't mean it, I don't think that at all, you know I don't. I would never intentionally hurt him y/n. You have to believe me." He says.

"I do believe you. I know. How about I go ask him if he's ready to talk and you guys can talk down here? I have to talk to Peter while the twins are napping, he's been upset since yesterday. I think he feels like he's gonna lose us and he just got us." You tell him.

"Okay. Thank you." He says. "You know I love you. No matter what either of you say or do, I'll always love you both more than anything." You tell him. "I love you too. Im sorry." He says. You felt bad that he kept apologizing but he needed too. You forgave him for the most part but you could only forgive him fully if he mended things with Bucky.

You kissed his forehead and hugged him tight. "Just fix this, and everything will be okay. Ill go get him."
