"I prefer whole milk."
"2% is better."
"No, whole milk tastes better."
"I swear to God, Cas, I have bent on a little of things but I will be damned to hell if I let you convert me to whole milk."
Cas pouted but yanked open the glass door and grabbed a gallon of 2% milk. "Fine. But I get to pick out the bagel flavors."
Dean rolled his eyes and pushed the cart toward the cereal aisle. "Next you're gonna tell me that you like cinnamon raisin."
There was a slight pause before Cas shuffled up beside him and inspected the items on the shelves. "I don't see what is wrong-"
"Are you serious?" Dean tossed one hand up into the air and groaned. "Jesus, we might be romantically compatible but we are definitely not food compatible." He had meant it as a joke, but when he tilted his head and saw the slight frown on his boyfriend's face he nudged him softly. "I'm just joking, babe, I'll eat cinnamon raisin bagels forever if that means I get to wake up with you each morning."
That got a small smile from Cas. "Maybe we can get blueberry."
Dean grinned from ear to ear as he pecked a kiss on Cas' cheek. "This is why I love you."
"But I will not allow you to purchase those noodles in a cup. They are awful for you." Cas spoke matter-of-factly as he took the lead and determinedly stalked toward the cereal. "Also, Cheerios are heart healthy-"
"I don't eat cereal for my heart, I eat it for the sugary goodness." Dean stated as he plucked a box of Fruit Loops from the shelf and set it in the cart.
Cas gave him a level glare before, without breaking eye contact, he reached over and tossed the Cheerios in the cart. They both stared at each other with mock anger before an older woman walked past and took note of it.
"You two just move in together?" She asked as she eyed up the blatant opposites of brands in the cart.
"How'd you-" Dean started as he raised an eyebrow at her.
"It's not really hard to figure out, son. Now, what I did with my girlfriend when we first moved in was we split the foods. After a couple months we realized that a lot of stuff we began to agree upon. I'd say that your boyfriend here looks like he knows what is healthy, but never forget to get some junk too. You'll balance each other out." She turned but then paused taking in a deep breath. "Just promise me you'll never let your minor differences be the reason you part. Those are easy to overcome. They mean nothing in the face of the love you share."
"Um.. thank you. We'll take that into consideration." Dean kept his eyes on her as she nodded and quickly retreated from the aisle. When he turned back to Cas he shrugged. "What in the world was that?"
Cas tilted his head and stared at the cart in thought. The words she had said seemed to break some of Cas' resolve. "I'll let you get the Fruit Loops but you have to promise me that you won't buy those Little Debbies."
Dean sighed and let his shoulders slouch. "I guess so."
"Good." Cas grinned as if he won the war and turned on his heel. "What about soda?"
Dean groaned but pushed the cart after his boyfriend. "If you say Pepsi-"
"Actually, I prefer Coke."
"Thank God."
Cas stopped in his tracks and turned back with a shy smile. "Did we just agree on something?"
Dean smirked with a wink. "Bout damn time."
Cas huffed with the roll of his eyes but walked up to Dean and gave him a reserved chaste kiss. "I would endure a million of these grocery trips for you, Dean. I love you."
"I love you, too." Dean pressed one final kiss to Cas' lips before they started off again, this time hand in hand.
