“DADDY! DAD! WAKE UP!” Mary’s high pitched squeals interrupted any shred of sleep Dean had left in his mind. He didn’t even have the energy to mumble anything before he felt a soft weight dip at the edge of his bed and the tell-tale quake of the bed to know Mary was jumping at their feet. “IT’S CHRISTMAS! SANTA CAME! GET UP!”
Dean groaned lightly but couldn’t help the smile tugging at the corner of his lips with love for his daughter. Being a hunter for so long still had him fearing every morning that something was wrong, that some monster had harmed his family. But when he snuck into his children’s rooms and saw them sleeping soundly, he was filled with this warmth that he never knew before.
“Dean.” Cas growled out before he felt his husband’s head nuzzle deeper into his chest. “Make her go away.”
Dean snorted as he ran his hand through Cas’ hair and finally peeled open his eyes to see Mary’s brilliant green eyes staring intently into his from only inches away. He startled a little, she had learned how to be sneaky from Cas no doubt, before melting against Cas to savor just a moment longer before he knew he would have to get up and face the day full of presents and celebrations.
“Dad, pleeeeeeaaaaase.” Mary insisted with a firm voice as her grabby hands started to shake at Cas’ shoulder. “Santa came.”
Cas rolled over, with the most adorable grumpy face that Dean treasured every morning, and eyed over his daughter carefully. But the moment Mary saw she had her father’s attention, her eyes went wide and her bottom lip jutted out. Dean laughed to himself because he knew that Cas was going to give in instantly, he always did. And maybe that was another reason he loved his husband so much.
“Is Little Bobby awake?” Cas’ voice was rough but he scooted the rest of the way out of Dean’s embrace and brought his daughter into a breathless embrace.
Mary let out a giggled before melting into her father’s chest and nodding. “I sent him to go wake Uncle Gabe and Uncle Sammy.”
“A battle plan.” Dean muttered with a swell of pride. “I’ll go get the coffee on. I have a feeling we are going to need gallons of it.”
Cas nodded without much thought as he kept his eyes on Mary’s face and brushed his fingers through her knotted bedhead. Dean made it as far as the doorway before turning and watching the sight on his bed. Mary rested her head on Cas’ shoulder and began to recreate the dream she had before waking. Cas nodded along and even made little noises at all the right parts. This was everything Dean could’ve hoped for in his once meaningless existence. A family, a family that cuddled in the mornings and sang each other to sleep at night. As he watched his fallen angel protectively hold their daughter so tenderly, Dean couldn’t help but thank whoever was watching over him for this life.

Sammy watched Gabe as he sauntered out of the spare bedroom and listened carefully to the footsteps padding away toward the kitchen where there was no doubt coffee brewing. When he knew they were alone, Sam turned his attention to Bobby, who was perched on his lap with his eyelids drooping just the slightest.
“Can I ask you for a favor?” Sam asked as he soothed circles into the back of the half asleep child on his lap. “It’s very important.”
Little Bobby nodded and let his head roll onto Sam’s shoulder. “Okay, Uncle Sammy.”
Sam reached over, careful not to stir Bobby about, and fumbled for the small golden box wrapped in a flawless bow that he had stashed in his bag. When he felt it pressed to his palm, he couldn’t help the edge of anxious excitement build inside of him. The box fit perfectly in his hand as he turned back and outstretched his hand in front of Bobby’s face.
