“Uncle Sammy!” Little Bobby’s voice screeched to even new heights as the youngster released his hand from his father’s and recklessly rushed to his uncle.

Sam let out a quick sigh as his nephew collided with his shins and wrapped his little coat covered arms behind his knees with reckless strength. “Hey there, little guy.” Without a moment’s hesitation Sam bent down and cradled his favorite nephew into his arms for a long overdue hug.

“I see who is your favorite uncle.” Gabe rolled his eyes and stuck out his bottom lip with a dramatic quiver. “Leave me to die with this aching broken heart.”

Bobby giggled before releasing Sam and all but jumping up into Gabe’s arms and burying himself in his other uncle’s chest. “Love you, too, Uncle Gabe. Please don’t die. That would make me very sad.”

Gabe chuckled as he ran his fingers through Bobby’s hair and kissed him softly on the forehead. “I wouldn’t want to do that, now would I?”

Dean and Cas finally caught up to where the three had greeted each other as Mary giggled and squealed with pleasure at the surprise visit of her uncles. Dean squeezed Cas’ hand as they watched their children hug and kiss their family. The coldness started to bite at their noses but no one seemed to mind.

“Are you coming Christmas tree shopping?” Mary asked with a grin that could melt the world. “Daddy said you wouldn’t make it for Christmas.”

Sam tore his eyes away from his niece’s to meet Dean’s. They shared a moment between brothers before Sam cleared his throat and let a small warm smile slip. “Nothing in the world could keep me from you. Especially when I picked out the perfect present.”

Mary squealed with delight before turning and setting her hands on her hips as she eyed up her other uncle. Gabe bent down, Little Bobby now scurrying back to his father’s warm embrace, and winked at Mary. “How are you, rugrat?”

Mary kept a playful angry face for a moment, before it cracked into a wide smile and she laughed heartedly as she flung her small body into his waiting arms. Gabe closed his eyes as he hugged his niece and thought that this moment was why he chose people over his brother.

“It’s Christmas! I am so excited!” Mary gushed breathlessly into her uncle’s chest. “And now you guys are here and it is going to be perfect! Daddy said I get to put the star on top of the tree!”

“Oh did he?” Gabe smiled warmly as he raised his eyes and met Castiel’s with nothing but brotherly love. “That is such an important duty.”

“I know!” Mary pulled back just enough to stare into Gabe’s eyes. “Will you help me?”

“I’m afraid I am a little short for that job, but maybe Sammy will be up for it. He is the tallest man in all the world.” Gabe pinched Mary’s nose softly before straightening up but finding a small hand attached to his own.

Mary grinned over at Sammy. “Will you?”

“How do we ask for things, Mary?” Castiel’s deep fatherly voice rang out.

“Please!”

Sam smirked and nodded, there was nothing in the world that would hold him back from enjoying this with his family. Nothing. “Of course.”

“You know, before we can even talk about putting a star up, we should probably pick a tree.” Dean hiked Little Bobby up onto his hip wincing a little with how big his son was getting, before lacing his finger’s with his husband’s.

“We need the biggest one!” Mary screamed out into the night as she almost tore off Gabe’s hand by rushing toward the tree lot they had stopped outside of.
