Prompt from Angels-Of-The-Lord (on Wattpad): Could you do a one shot where Cas proposes to Dean and Dean tearfully says okie dokie and Cas doesn't understand the okie dokie but Sam is dying of laughter.

"Getting married is something two people do when they love each other and want to be bound together for the rest of their lives." Sam explained casually as he sipped at his tea. His eyes didn't leave the newspaper but he could still feel the fallen angel's eyes on him. "Why are you asking about marriage?"

"It is a custom I am not entirely familiar with." Cas cleared his throat, remembering what Dean had said once upon a time about lying, and shifted a little in his seat. "How does one go about marriage?"

At this, the younger Winchester laid down his paper and gave the other man his full attention. "You mean like how does someone get married?"

Cas simply nodded with a sheepish smile. "I'm just curious is all."

"Well," Sam couldn't help but smile a little at the romantic reminder that out in the world people do get a happily ever after, "one person proposes to the other. Usually they have a ring and ask 'will you marry me' or 'will you make me a happy husband or wife' or something like that. Some people like to go grand gestures, others simply kneel and ask over a romantic dinner or something. If the other person says 'yes' then they are engaged. Then they plan a wedding. And get married."

"A ring?" At this Cas squinted and seemed to wonder furiously about coming into possession of a ring fit for engagement.

"Yeah. Women usually want diamonds, but not all of them. And men, well I guess usually they'd want just a plain band. But it really depends on what type of person they are. If you know someone enough to want to marry them, then you'd know what kind of ring they'd like." Sam grins a bit as he watches Cas' growing confusion. "Do you have someone in mind?"

Cas nodded. "Yes. I think they would like a simple ring. Nothing too shiny or ornamental."

"Find a simple ring. Maybe gold or silver. Just a plain band. Maybe engrave it? Do what you think is best." Sam chuckled softly as he took another sip of his tea. "So it wasn't just out of curiosity."

But Castiel was too deep in thought to say anything else. He quickly got up and retreated to his room. Once inside he grabbed the wallet Dean had given him a few weeks back. Inside was a credit card that he was supposed to use in case of emergencies. With a soft smile he started off toward the garage.

~A Couple Days Later~

Dean was chomping down on his burger and stuffing fries into his cheeks between bites. It was almost gross watching a grown man eat so heartedly but Castiel couldn't help his heart warm at the sight. The small black box in the pocket of his trench coat felt like it weighed three tons. Watching Dean's eyes flow across the room Cas decided it was the right moment, he didn't know how he knew but he did.

"-it's just in North Dakota so we could swing up there and-" Sam's sentence died out from where he sat beside Cas when the fallen angel stood from his seat. "Everything okay, Cas?"

Dean set his burger down when his eyes met Cas' and the room seemed to tilt on its axis. The diner kept bustling but to the three of them time seemed to crawl almost agonizingly slow. Swallowing his next breath, Cas stepped around the table to stand right beside Dean's chair.

"Dean." His voice sounded even rougher than usual so he cleared it carefully. "I would like to spend the rest of my mortal life, and my after life, and whatever lies beyond that, with you. I know that I can not give you a life you deserve, I know I am a simple being compared to all the greatness you have given the world, and I know that I will never live up to the man you are. But what I do know is that I love every breath that reaches your lips. I love every day that greets you and I love every second that I get to be in your company. I know that I love you, Dean Winchester, and I will never stop. Nothing, not even Naomi or Hell, could make me forget that. What I want to know is,-" at this part Castiel slowly sank down on one knee and presented the box on the palm of his hand, "will you be my husband? Will you make me the happiest man that has ever gained humanity?"

Sam's jaw fell slack when he looked up from the kneeling angel to see his brother with tears in his eyes. The older Winchester was stunned silent, the tears slowly falling onto his flannel, as he seemed to stare into Cas' very being. Castiel fumbled a bit when opening the box but seemed to relax as he held out the simple golden band.

"Um-" Dean voice cracked from trying to contain sobs, "-Cas, I-" Sucking in a deep breath, Dean seemed to regain himself but instead he blurted out, "okie dokie."

Cas' eyes squinted as his head tilted to study Dean's face. "What does 'okie dokie' mean?" Turning to Sam he whispered, "Is that a customary answer to a marriage proposal?"

Not being able to contain the now comical scene laid in front of him, his brother tear soaked and his best friend kneeling with a ring and confusion at a simple diner in the middle of nowhere, Sam burst into a laughter that rocked his chair until it started to squeak under his wake. His laughter brought tears of his own to his eyes as he tried to muffle his sounds into the palm of his hands.

Castiel, even more dumbfounded than before, turned back to Dean to question further what was happen but found lips press against his own. His eyes closed on their own as he was pushed back onto both his knees by the solid form of a hunter against his chest. When the kiss ended, the two men stared breathlessly into each other's eyes.

Dean smiled so softly Cas thought he might be dreaming it. "It means yes. Yes, I will be your husband."

"Oh." Cas flushed but grinned in return. "Good."

"'Okie dokie'!" Sam mocked Dean's deep tone before he exploded into another fit of laughter and threw himself on the table.
