Prompt from originalmarauder: Can I get a Destiel ficlet where Dean realizes that Castiel's low-low voice kind-of sounds like the Impala growling and it's a huge turn on.
'
“I don’t understand why we are driving the whole way back to the bunker.” Sam growled as he bit down on his tongue and stared from the backseat of the impala. Not only was he pissed about having to backtrack because Cas had forgotten his allergy medicine, yes the newly human Cas was very allergic to just about everything, Sam was also furious that he was stuck in the back seat. He had never been denied shotgun.
“You know why.” Dean snapped as he floored on the gas and sent the impala roaring down the highway.
“We can just get medicine at a pharmacy-“
Sam’s whining was cut off by a horrible fit of sneezes from Cas who was doubled over in his seat and wheezing for breath. It shut Sam up, because it was then that he realized the medicine Cas needed was expensive, Cas’ allergies had been extreme and called for very high end stuff. Stuff that wasn’t covered on a hunter’s health plan.
“I’ll be fine.” Cas’ voice was low and rougher than usual.
Dean let out a short growl as he sent the car speeding along even quicker. In Dean’s mind all he could see was Cas dying, because now that he proclaimed his love, he was always seeing the worst scenario with his precious angel. Allergies had been a hassle, but it was also something soon drove Dean crazy. Because Cas’ voice had dropped to a level that was oddly and arousingly familiar to Dean.
“No, you won’t. You sound like the impala.” Sam rolled his eyes and decided that his anger was misplaced.
Dean’s eyes widened as his jaw clenched. That was it, that was the sound that reminded Dean of Cas’ voice. The impala. Blood rushed down his chest as he fearfully realized that it was a bigger turn on than he ever anticipated. But he couldn’t do this now, not with Cas choking for breath and Sam in the backseat.
“Dean, please tell him that I will be fine. This happens all the time. Just a few snee-“ Another sneeze sent Cas’ brain foggy and his body slouched back in the seat in exhaustion. “Is it hot in here or is it just me?”
“It’s just you, baby.” Dean grinned to himself at the way Cas’ voice was literally the hottest thing in the entire universe. Maybe later tonight he could get Cas’ throat sore enough to where it would be this rough again. That thought almost made him swerve off the road.
“Really, Dean?” Sam moaned from the back seat and slid down so that he couldn’t see his brother’s eyes in the rearview mirror. “Control yourself.”
“Sorry.” Dean glanced over to see his pale lover only grimace. “You’re gonna be fine, Cas. I promise that the pain will go away soon. I’m sorry I forgot your medicine.”
Cas cracked his award winning little smile and nodded. “It’s okay, Dean. I have felt worse. Remember that I have died-“
“Let’s not rehash that.” Dean snapped as he let his one hand slide from the steering wheel and snake over to rest on Cas’ thigh. “We’ll be at the bunker soon enough.”
Cas sneezed and gripped onto Dean’s hand firmly. “Can you drive any faster?”
Dean nodded with a small smile to himself and sped quicker. “Sure, baby.”
Sam looked over at Cas’ thigh and noticed the way their hands were now firmly gripping. He never thought in a million years his brother would settle, let alone for Castiel. Especially since Cas was fragile now and every little problem sent Dean in a protective frenzy.
“I never thought your voice could get any lower.” Sam noted as he sat back up and looked over Cas carefully. “Are you sure you are okay?”
“My voice is fine. It is just low because my nasal cavities are blocked.”
“So, every time you are sick-“
“Maybe.” Cas looked out the window with a deep sigh. “I can make my voice this deep, I just choose not to. It puts a strain on my vocal chords.”
Dean noted what Cas had said and knew deep down that he could make the angel talk that deep with the flick of his tongue. Oh yes, Dean would not let that deep voice leave. “I like it.”
“You like what?” Sam turned to his brother and slapped himself mentally for asking such a dumb question. He knew exactly what Dean liked.
“The deep voice.”
Castiel grinned and ran his thumb over Dean’s softly. “Oh you do?” He made a point to speak even lower which sent chills down Dean’s spine and awakened parts of his mind that he didn’t know he had. “Dean Winchester, have I found a secret turn on?”
“GROSS.” Sam jammed his fingers into his ears and glared at both his best friend and his brother. “I can’t believe I have to sit here and hear this.”
“Cas, baby, talk more to me.” Dean grinned, because he loved that voice and he loved how much it drove Sam crazy to witness this kind of stuff. “Never stop, baby.”
“When we get to the bunker, I am going to-“ Cas started with a devilish grin.
“STOP.”
'
Dean gripped Cas’ hand tightly as he drug his angel into the bunker and hurriedly toward their shared bathroom. Cas was having another coughing fit and it was driving Dean up the wall. He couldn’t stand to see his once invincible angel in so much pain. But as he threw open the mirror cabinet and popped open the pill bottle, relief washed over him. He had done his job and kept Cas safe another day.
“Here.” Dean sternly held out two of the pills and watched as Cas gripped the counter and opened his mouth.
Dean smiled, feeling like a true guardian, as he slid the pills onto Cas’ tongue and watched him swallow them with closed eyes. As Cas let out a sigh of relief, Dean wrapped his arms around his angel’s shoulder and held him through the sniffles.
“I promised I wouldn’t let you die.” Dean whispered softly as he ran his hand through Cas’ hair.
“I never doubted you.”
Warmness exploded in Dean. “Love you, Cas.”
“Love you, too, Dean.” Cas pulled away a little and stared into his lovers eyes. “Want me to talk in my low voice?”
Dean nodded and felt excitement bubble up through him. “Oh, God, Cas, please.”
Cas cleared his throat and held onto Dean firmly as he made his face emotionless. “I am the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition.”
Dean melted into Cas’ arms as he lunged forward and attacked the angel’s lips with his own. The kiss heated as Dean pulsed against Cas and drew him painstakingly close. A new fire boiled in his veins as he held his love and felt the low vibrations of a moan in Cas’ mouth. Nothing in the world compared to the way Cas’ voice and Dean was prepared to spend the rest of his days having it be the first thing he heard in the morning and the last thing he listened to at night.
