“Gabe.” Sam muttered with playful disdain as he felt a strong arm jostling his shoulder. “Fuck off.”
“Oh, don’t be like that, Sammy. It’s Christmas! Time for smiles and presents and cookies and candy and-“ Gabe’s voice started to rise and bubble with unhinged excitement.
“I hate you in the morning.” Sam buried his face deeper into his pillow and prayed Gabe would leave him alone.
“Prayers won’t work this morning, Samwich. And you love me all the time, don’t kid yourself, kiddo. Get your ass up. I got you your favorite coffee brewing and everyone else is up so unless you want Mary to come beat the shit out of you until you wake up then I would roll out of bed and slap on a smile.” Gabe slapped a hand across Sam’s ass before chuckling and padding out of the room humming some Christmas tune Sam couldn’t quite recall.
Letting out an unrestrained groan, Sam rolled himself out of bed like instructed and shuffled his still sleeping limbs out toward the hallway and down in the direction of the living room. He stopped just short when he heard his family’s faint voices.
Distinctly he could make out Mary’s short giggle. “Santa isn’t going to eat me!”
“Coarse he is!” Gabe hollered. “Why do you think the man is so fat?”
“He eats cookies.” Little Bobby yawned and Sam knew before even having to peek around the doorway to know that his nephew was probably cradled against Cas’ side like he always was first thing in the morning.
Gabe snorted loudly. “I eat cookies. I’m not fat.”
“That’s controversial.” Dean added with a chuckle.
Sam couldn’t help but smile as he entered through the doorway and saw his family all cuddled up around the lit Christmas tree. Little Bobby was in fact cuddled up in Cas’ chest with Dean sitting beside them wrapping Cas’ shoulders with a protective arm. Gabe was sitting crisscrossed on the floor with Mary almost bouncing with excitement on his lap. Picture perfect, and hopefully it would never fade from Sam’s memory.
Gabe’s eyes found his as they always did and he gave him the small smile he always reserved just for Sam. “Looks like the Grumpy Giant is finally joining the world of the living.”
Mary giggled and raced from Gabe’s lap to wrap her strong little arms around Sam’s knees and sway him slightly. “You’re up! Time for presents!”
Sam bent over and ran his hand through Mary’s hair just before she darted back over toward the tree with excitement washing over everyone in the room. “Let me get my coffee.”
“Already got it.” Dean twisted his head and pointed to the end table beside Sam’s favorite leather chair, the same chair Gabe was expectantly sitting in front of.
“Thanks.”
There was a juggling of presents just as Sam took his seat and felt Gabe bend back and lean against his shins. They all watched as Mary furrowed her brows and concentrated on reading the names of those Santa had given presents to. Slowly she handed them all out so everyone had one. Little Bobby whined and swatted at his before nuzzling his face deeper into Cas’ chest and trying to sleep (having not slept at all last night in excitement over this very moment). Gabe lit up when he was handed a small box from Santa written in Sam’s hand writing. Sam took a sip of his coffee just as Mary set a heavy medium sized box on his lap causing him to wince slightly.
Mary paused with the small box and bag in her hands as she smiled at her fathers. “These are from me and Bobby… but Uncle Sam and Uncle Gabe helped.”
Cas and Dean wore matching smiles as they outstretched a hand and was given their presents. Mary stepped back and gripped tightly to her own present before sitting down and staring at it with wide eyes filled to the brink with wonder.
