I wrote this using the song 21 Guns by Green Day. Also fair warning these is major character death.

Do you know what's worth fighting for?
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away and you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside, you're in ruins“Dean?” Cas’ voice shook deep in his chest as he clung to the limp body in his arms. Warmth was seeping from his fingertips as he struggled to claw at Dean in hopes that it would save him. “Dean? Dean!” The violent shakes started to vibrate against Dean’s lifeless form. Those once powerfully charged green eyes were shut out to the world behind pale lids. “Please, Dean. Please don’t do this. Not after everything.”
A simple spurt of air rasped from Dean’s lips before his body gave a final shudder. A scream ripped from Cas’ throat as he bent himself over painfully, not noticing the pain shooting in his back, and pressed his forehead against Dean’s. His forehead was unearthly cold and it only made Cas cry out harder.
“Dean, listen to me. Don’t leave my voice. I’m going to fix this, okay? Remember the time that I pulled you from perdition? I vowed that I would never let anything happen to you again. Dean? Dean! Don’t you dare die.” Cas gripped onto Dean’s shoulder, right where his handprint used to glow, and struggled to understand that Dean’s heart had stopped beating.
One, 21 Guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 Guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I ...“Dean, please.” Cas sobbed out as tears fogged over his vision and took him into misery laced darkness. “Dean.” The crimson red still dripped from Dean’s brow and puddled darkly across his lips. “I need you, Dean. We have had our differences, and I know I was never a very good angel to you. I let you down and I caused so much of your pain. That’s why you can’t go. I need to make things right before it’s too late. Dean? I love you.”
When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass and the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last, you're in ruins“It was never humanity that I fell in love with. It was always you.” Cas’ face scrunched into a horrid grimace as he felt his vessel breaking under his bones. A soft wind blew and for a moment he hoped that he had seen a shift in his human. In the darkest corners of his mind Cas thought he had seen Dean’s lip stir. His fingers clawed at the flannel as he begged the heavens for Dean. “You can’t do this to me, Dean. I never got to tell you that I loved you. I never got to tell you that you were never broken to me. You were always the one shred of humanity that was God’s greatest achievement.”
Humming came from somewhere far off, maybe a car engine, but Castiel didn’t listen. His world was sucked out of him and drawn down into the death that surrounded their bodies. Every ache and pain from his past ebbed at his heart. Shadows cast across Dean’s face and Cas thought that maybe, just maybe, he was still listening.
Cas pressed on through the sobs that choked his words bitterly. “You told me once that you would have me cursed or not. You were the first person who ever looked past all my faults and still wanted me. I was too proud to believe that you could have loved me. Dean, please don’t make me go through this. Don’t make me lose you. I have lost everything, but I can not lose you. You are the only thing that has kept me going. I-“ The words were lost as Cas tried so desperately to keep his vision clear. If he looked away from Dean’s face he feared he would never see it again. That forced his mind to collapse. Without Dean, there was nothing for Castiel in this life.
Did you try to live on your own?
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died, you're in ruinsTaking a deep breath, Cas bowed his head and pressed his tear laced lips against Dean’s forehead. The words he spoke against the bitter cold of Dean’s skin. “I love you, Dean Winchester. I have loved you since I touched your shoulder in hell. I will love you until my last breath. I promise to watch over Sam, I know that is what you would want me to do. But you have to promise me something first. You have to promise this to me because if you don’t I don’t think I could-I don’t think that I could-“ Cas pressed his eyes together and tried with no success to keep the sobs from cracking through his chest. “Promise me you will find peace.”
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
