"I think it was Purgatory." Cas mumbled over his newspaper, his eyes casually scanning the comics in search of some humor.
Dean nodded offhand as he scooped more hashbrowns onto his fork. "That was like years after we met, dude. For me it was like the second I met you."
"You stabbed me." The fallen angel chuckled. His eyes glanced at Dean briefly, the faintest trace of a warm smile popping at the corners of his lips. "In the chest with a demon blade, I might add."
Before Dean could reply around the mouthful of breakfast bursting at his cheeks, he feels the slightest brush of something against his bare calf. It takes him a second to register that it's a socked foot. As warmth fills his cheeks he sent his husband a warm gaze.
"I might've stabbed you..." Dean swallowed down the rest of his food before reaching across the table to grab onto the same hand that was still imprinted on his arm. "But a day hasn't passed since that day that I haven't been falling in love with you."
Castiel used his angel stoic knowledge to keep the tears at bay. Instead he squeezed Dean's fingers, sat back in his chair, righted his newspaper, and started back to finding comics. "Eat your breakfast before it gets cold."
"Yeah, I love you, too." Dean snorted but didn't have to be told twice before he was shoveling more food by the forkfuls.
"I love you." Cas smiled around the word, the warmth of the Sunday morning seeping into his veins as he breathed in this life that sometimes felt as if it was a dream he would wake from at any moment.
"Read me the Garfield strip."
"Yes, beloved."
