She'd trade Colorado if he'd take her with him
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay,
She's answered by the tail lights shining through the window pane.

Castiel watches the snow fall from outside the small window frame of his Colorado cabin. It's like a galaxy is falling from the night sky, like the stars are falling and barreling themselves toward his home. He wonders idly if he is in hell, if hell was just as cold as Colorado. There is a part of him that thinks snow is falling in his heart and burrowing a coldness inside of him that makes the pain start to lessen. It had been two days since Dean had called from the road, two days since the tail lights of Dean's Impala had glowed and warmed his now-frigid heart.

He said I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then?
She said you're ramblin' man
You ain't ever gonna change
You got a gypsy soul to blame
And you were born for leavin'.

Castiel thinks of the phone call from two days ago that echoes in screaming desperation inside his mind.

"I wanna see you again, sweetheart, but I'm stuck in colder weather. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Can I call you then?" There was static coming along with Dean's words that made Cas' heart sink at just how far away they were from each other.

"You're a ramblin' man. You're ever gonna change." Castiel gritted his teeth together to keep the spilling tears from showing in his voice. "You got a gypsy soul to blame and you were born for leavin'."

"Baby, please." Dean's voice sounded far away all of the sudden, as if from a nightmare. "You know that I-"

"Don't call, Dean, if you aren't going to come back to me. I love you... but I don't think that's enough. It's not enough when I know that you never want to stay here with me." Cas fought away the sobs that were catching in the back of his throat.

"Don't do this, Cas."

"I didn't do anything." Cas hung up as the tears spilled and fogged his vision to the snow that was still raining down from outside his window pane.

At a truck stop diner just outside of Lincoln,
The night is black as the coffee he was drinkin',
And in the waitress' eyes he sees the same ol' light a-shinin',
He thinks of Colorado and the girl he left behind him.

Dean traced the pad of his thumb along the lip of the coffee mug hugging his palm. His eyes never waver from the black coffee that was now half empty. The ring of brown that marred the once white mug makes him think of the dirt in the snow of Colorado when he had helped Cas dig his car out of the snow.

"Refill?" A kindly soothing voice interrupted his thoughts.

Green eyes flashed up to meet a beautiful waitress who had made numerous visits to his table. A couple years ago Dean would've sent her a wink and a charming smile. He would've charmed her right into his motel bed. Now, now all he could think of is the way Cas always had coffee ready for him in bed every night he had stayed over.

"No thanks. I'm headin' out." Dean cleared his throat before shifting onto his left side and fishing his wallet out from his jacket pocket.

"Oh. Where ya headed?" The waitress' smile faltered when she realized Dean was sort of rejecting her, even though she was used to truckers coming and going as they pleased.

"Colorado." Dean shelled out a few dollars as he looked out the window. A light snow started to fall. "Home."

Well, it's a winding road
When you're in the lost and found
You're a lover – I'm a runner
And we go 'round 'n 'round
And I love you but I leave you
I don't want you but I need you
You know it's you who calls me back here, baby.
