At Seattle Presbyterian, Mallory Shepherd was taken in for a second surgery while Alex Karev was moved to the ICU. After the calls had come in, Nancy Shepherd and Addison Montgomery got on the first flights to Seattle, arriving within hours.
There is a lot of pressure that revolves around the word wedding.
Since everyone else was occupied, Callie Torres waited for them at the airport by herself, focusing on the little trinkets in the gift shops as she waited for them to arrive. She tried to keep her mind off the fact that her best friend and her best friend's fiancé were shot, but could hardly do so.
When she spotted a woman with red hair through the crowds of people, she instantly knew it was Addison Montgomery. She rushed over to her with open arms, embracing her in a hug before she said anything.
"You're here," Callie said with a sigh of relief. "You do not know how amazing it is to see you."
"Of course I'm here. I still can't believe it," Addison replied with a shake of her head. "How's Mallory doing? Any updates on her or Alex yet?"
"Alex was moved to the ICU; they have him sedated," Callie answered, making sure to go through everything. "Mallory was taken in for another surgery. Some resident operated on her during the shooting, Jackson."
"A resident?"
People expect glorious events...
All Callie could do was nod as she further explained. "But he is Harper Avery's grandson, so that has to mean something."
Before Addison had a chance to respond, they saw Nancy, waving her hand as she made her way through the crowd, calling out Addison's name. Callie glanced over and recognized her immediately, even though she had only seen her twice.
"Addison, thank goodness you're here," Nancy greeted her with a hug. "Where's my nephew? The poor thing, but the girl on the phone said he was with Richard's wife during the shooting?"
"Yes, thankfully," Callie nodded in response. "He's with Arizona now, since Mark and Lexie are at the hospital and I'm here."
"Poor thing, he'll be happy to see me, that's for sure," Nancy managed to smile before she questioned. "How's Mallory? Is she going to be okay?"
"She should be, yeah," Callie made sure to answer. "Lexie should be texting me with an update any minute."
"Nancy," Addison changed the subject with a raised brow. "You'll never guess who Callie spoke to on the phone."
