With a slam, Clementine threw the black box onto the table.

Kate seemed to be the only one to react at first, visibly jumping from her seat and eyeing the contraption that dared to startle her. The rest of the group, at the moment being Javi and Gabe, eyed the teen carefully.

"What is this?" Javi asked, a hand remaining against Kate's shoulder, attempting to soothe her as best as he could from both the startle and the gash on her abdomen.

Clementine turned briefly to stare at Gabe, giving her an equally confused stare. Her arms crossed before speaking. "You guys have seriously never heard of this?" She reached out, given Gabe a quick pat - more like a slap - on the shoulder. "I thought you at the very least would have."

"If you could stop hitting me and start explaining, that would be appreciated." Gabe grumbled meekly, rubbing at his arm and staring back at the girl.

"Cards Against Humanity?" She held out her hands, waiting for a response. "You guys have never played?"

"Now is not the time for a game."

"I think it is." Clementine counted, taking a seat at the park bench table the family had seated themselves at. "We need to take your minds off of some things, and this is the perfect game to do it."

"Really?" Gabe raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"Trust me."

It hadn't been terribly long since Mariana had been shot cold, leaving the trio to still reel from her death. But, to Clementine, that didn't seem like an excuse to not move forwards.

She, after all, knew how to cope. Out of everyone there, she probably had the most experience with it. Of course, she wasn't able to throw that in their faces. Her pain in comparison to theirs would help no one. All she could do, all she needed to do, was show them how to move forwards.

"What's going on?"

"Hey, what was--"

Tripp and Eleanor both stumbled into the room attempting to speak on top of one another. Realizing this, the duo exchanged a quick, awkward glance between one another before standing upright.

Eleanor cleared her throat, folding her fingers against one another to resume from where she had cut herself off. "What was that slamming sound?"

"We could hear it from outside." Tripp reinforced, nodding and awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. The two, while clearly carrying a past with each other, still seemed to share a kind of mutual respect.

"That was Clementine."

Immediately upon hearing Gabe's response Eleanor's arms crossed, her shoulders slumping and her body relaxing at the motion. Her body language screamed 'of course'.

In response, Clementine's arms crossed over her chest, a bitter sneer growing across her features. "I didn't break anything."

"Of course you didn't."

It was clear to anyone in viewing distance of the two that Eleanor and Clementine had hidden tensions beneath the bitter, snide surface. To Clementine, her response would always be that Eleanor thought she was a rebel. Someone to not be trusted. After everything that had happened to her, Clementine had gone cold and tended to ride solo. This sent off warning bells to Eleanor. The truth, of course, was far different from this. Clementine in reality was tempted to no longer grow close to a group.
