The teens in New Richmond had underground connections, and being involved with those connections was Clementine's first real taste of being a rebellious teenager.

There weren't a lot of teenagers in Richmond, but there were enough that they'd made a pact. Too often, the adults were in charge, stressing about survival. The kids were mindless and innocent, playing and biding their time until they were old enough to assist in Richmond's success and growth. The teens, more often than not, were the ones doing chores, fetching supplies, and running errands.

So, of course they'd want to let off some steam, and of course Clementine wanted in on it.

"It'll be fun," Clementine said, nudging Gabe's shoulder as they made their way toward the storage room. The building that, in a past life, had been a privately-owned restaurant under a one-person apartment. In its current life, it was one of Richmond's storage lockers and, beneath it, a secret teenage hide-out.

Gabe shifted uncomfortably as they approached the door. "I don't know. I've never done something like this before."

Clementine smirked, finding it adorable just how innocent Gabe was. Of course, he'd lived a completely different life than she had. He had parents, guidance, resources, and the occasional place to settle down.

"Come on," she said, slipping in through the heavy door. "I'll be there too, it's not like you're going alone." Finding that the statement brought him a taste of comfort, Gabe huffed anxiously through his nose and wandered inside, watching as Clementine gently closed the door behind them.

Clementine made her way to the back room — what had once been the restaurant's kitchen — where Richmond stored their canned goods. Sliding one of the boxes to the side, the handle of a locked trap door glinted in the moonlight.

Gabe raised a brow, looking at Clementine skeptically before turning his attention back to the floor.

Clementine knocked once. Then, after a pause, knocked 3 times in quick succession. Then, once after a pause. Then, 4 more times. After that, the door clicked and swung open. A dark haired, brown-eyed boy greeted them. "Clementine!" He beamed, eyes wide and bright. "I'm so glad you came!"

"What else was I gonna do?" She said with a snort, making her way down the wooden steps. She gestured behind her. "That's Gabe. He's my plus one."

The stranger smiled stiffly, drinking the teen in, before stepping to the side to let him in. Awkwardly, Gabe closed his eyes and crept past him. After there was shifting behind him — what he assumed was the boy readjusting the box upstairs — the door closed.

The party was nothing like what Gabe had envisioned. The room was littered with candles, illuminating everything with a soft aura of care. There was a table off to the side with wooden crates stacked on top, unopened extras stuffed under it on the floor. Clementine had already made her way there, swiping two bottles and clinking one with yet another teen Gabe didn't recognize, exchanging pleasantries before she made her way back to him.

"What do you think" Clem asked, sliding a brown bottle into Gabe's hands. She popped the lid of her own off, taking a sip and scrunching her nose but sighing as it slid down. "Pretty nice, don't you think?"
