They had been given four days. Four days to gather their things, to make a plan, and to figure out where they would be going from this point onward.

"Can you back off?"

Watching Gabe yell at a stranger caused Javier's eyes to close in silent prayer. At this rate, it was possible those four days were about to be cut even shorter.

The man the teen was picking a fight with, a slightly older male, scoffed. He tapped his cigarette off to the side, allowing the ashes to scatter amongst them. "What's your problem, kid?"

Gabe's brows furrowed, bitterly swiping some ash from his shoulder. "My problem is that she said she wanted you to leave her alone and you're still bugging her."

"Gabe--"

Clementine's voice, just barely being able to speak, was silenced as the male dropped his cigarette to the ground and squashed it beneath his boot. "Calm down, kid. I'm not here to get your panties in a twist."

Clementine, a mere pace behind Gabe, crossed her arms at the statement. How he thought his actions weren't warranting of a scolding was beyond her. Luckily for her, Gabe was there — as he often was — defending her to the bitter end.

"Yeah, apparently you're here to harass my friend." Gabe snapped back, arms crossed bitterly before his chest. Despite the darkness enveloping them, the faint glow of candles, flashlights, and fairy lights strung on trees gave a faint glow to all involved. It was haunting slightly, seeing as none of them could clearly see one another. Instead, they could only register faint outlines of features.

The male had struck a conversation with Clementine, and hovered over her — pinning her to a nearby wall. As the girl went to leave, disinterested and ending their talk, he grabbed at her arm, pulling her back. That was when Clementine's yelling fit with the male began, and that was when Gabe stepped in.

"Calm down, kiddo." The male turned ever-so-slightly, making eye contact with Javi a few paces away.

While Javier was dying to intervene, to get the creep to lay off the girl he wished to take care of, he wanted to let Gabe prove his point. He was close enough that should anything happen, he could easily step in. For now, Gabe needed to do his thing.

After hesitating, allowing his gaze to linger against Javi's, he continued to turn. "I'm leaving." Before departing, he spit on the ground and wiped his mouth, eyeing Javi as he slithered past.

Finally out of his earshot, Gabe exhaled, allowing the breath he didn't know he was holding to escape. He turned, eyeing the girl hugging her arms, staring after the stranger.

"Are you okay?"

Clem turned, her cold gaze softening as it met his. Seeing his loving concern in view opposed to the haunting male washed any tension out of her body. "Yeah, I'm alright."

Gabe squinted, further trying to read her. "Did he do anything to you?"

She shook her head, her arms falling to her hips. "No, grabbing me was it."
