"Gabe!"

The voice — whisper-yell and all — ripped the teen from his sleep. He flipped around, searching for the source, before resting his gaze on Clementine. Her head was peeking in through his window, a cheeky smile gracing her cheeks.

He sighed, a hand settling to his heart, hoping to calm it's racing. "Sheesh Clem, are you trying to kill me?"

"Dying this way wouldn't be interesting."

The male, still half asleep, shot the girl a glare. Through a whisper, and while rubbing at one of his eyes with his jacket's sleeve, he spoke. "Why are you here?"

Clem adjusted herself in the window, throwing her legs in to sit on its ledge. "Let's go do something."

"What?" Gabe scoffed. Afraid his voice was too loud, he turned to see if Javi or Kate had stirred. Luckily for him, they hadn't.

After the dust settled around the chaos they created in New Richmond, everyone had been assigned a small room in one of the town's many buildings to call home. For Gabe, his was with Kate and Javi. Luckily for Clementine, they were also only on the second floor, which meant it was easy to peek into their bedroom to drag Gabe out whenever she pleased.

"Let's go do something!" The girl whispered, smirking at her friend's caution. "The night is young."

"It's almost 3am." Gabe hushed, raising an eyebrow. "The night is growing very, very old."

Clementine rolled her eyes, leaning to the side of the windowsill. "Do you want to come and hang out or not?"

Gabe weighed his options. On one hand, he could — and frankly should — stay and sleep. He knew Kate had plans for both of them the next morning, and being half asleep would probably not be ideal. On the other hand, he could spend the early hours of the morning with Clementine, goofing off.

His mind was practically made up for him.

"Yeah, I'm in."

Clementine giddily spun out the window, clinging to the wooden trellis spanning the outer wall and shimmying to the ground. A few moments later, Gabe was at her side, panting and all.

"Let's go!" Gabe raised an eyebrow at the girl's claim, watching as she started forward. Her gaze turned and locked to him. Noticing he wasn't responding, she stopped.

"Are you gonna tell me where we're going?"

Clementine's giddy smile fell, her shoulders going with it. "Can't you just trust me? I want it to be a surprise."

Gabe pressed the corner of his mouth together, contemplating. Before he could audibly give an answer, the teen grabbed his arm, tugging him in the direction she had started in.

"How long are we going to be gone?" He scoffed, finally regaining his footing from her tug to action. "We have chores to do tomorrow."

Clementine released her hold on his arm to wave her hand dismissively. Losing her touch, Gabe wished he had never asked. "We'll be fine. We'll be back in time for chores."

Gabe, raising an eyebrow, noted how she didn't say they'd be back in time for sleep. Only for chores. Frankly, he didn't know why he was surprised. Classic Clementine: always throwing him into adventures he never asked for.
