"It's Father's Day." Clementine's voice, soft and fragile, fluttered into the dense air.

The claim, so completely out of left field, caught the male at her side by surprise. Luke raised an eyebrow as he turned to study her. He had been scratching the back of his head, attempting to take inventory of the amount of canned food in their store room when her claim caught his interest. "Is it?"

Clementine's gaze remained focused on him opposed to studying the boxes; the task they were supposed to be focused on. "Did you know that?"

"I didn't." He confessed, kneeling to get a better look at a box on the middle shelf. Upon spotting them, content with their success, he turned to better watch her. "How are you able to keep track of dates so well?"

Clementine shrugged, a grin playing on her lips. "I'm smart." She wasn't about to tell him that it was thanks to an old calendar she used to kept track of dates. She didn't care too much about the days of the week, rather only numerical days of the month. Weekdays didn't matter much anymore. Really, none of it did. To her, however, it meant everything.

The male chuckled, playfully tapping the lip of her hat. "That you are."

She grinned, pushing her hat back to its normal position. That calendar, keeping track of such dates, was her only way of connecting back to the previously normal world; the life she lived before chaos had infested the world.

"So, what are you going to do to celebrate such a special day?" Luke asked, a playful and kind smile playing on his lips. He hoisted the box into his arms, nodding his head for her to follow as he started for the kitchen.

Clementine trotted peacefully after him seeing as the real reason for accompanying the male was out of the hope for companionship. Sarah had gone out with Carlos and Kenny to find more firewood and, out of everyone remaining in the cabin, Luke was the one she wished to spend her time with the most.

Really, Luke would almost always was her first choice. The only time he wasn't was whenever Sarah was nearby, where Clem felt like it's best to spend time with her. After all, Sarah needed the company far more than Clementine did. On a day like today, a day meant to cherish the male leaders in her life, she knew who her first choice was going to be.

"I'll spend it with you."

Luke stopped, the jolt in his step stunted at her words. He turned, eyes lifted in awe at her kind words. He fumbled with placing the box on the counter, her kindness stunning him entirely. "Really?"

She nodded, gently and cautiously studying the effect her words had on him. "You're the closest person to a Dad I have."

Luke blinked in surprise, glancing around the kitchen as if questioning if they were actually alone. If this was a prank, it was a cruel one. Gradually, he knelt down to her level. "What about Kenny?"

"I love Kenny, but it's not the same." Her brows scrunched vaguely, not in disgust, but rather in miscommunication. "He can get angry. Really angry. It freaks me out sometimes. I don't worry about that with you."

Luke's eyes softened, so much so he was worried they were to turn into puddles. "Clem, I--"

"I never worry about you yelling. You're always so calm and critical. It feels like someone always has my back."
