They stood in silence, completely and entirely stunned. The three stood, their mouths hanging agape, staring at each other in bewilderment.

"Clementine?" Finally, Kenny managed to wheeze out of his clenching, astonished lungs. "Is that you?"

He spoke because he knew his closest friend, dare he say his best friend, couldn't. Seeing the little girl — his little girl — before his eyes again was so unbelievably surreal.

"Kenny?" The girl managed out, her lips quivering in uncertainty. Then, her eyes shifted to the male beside him; the one she thought she would never see again. "Lee?"

The sound of her voice, the sound of her saying his name, instantly smacked a smile onto his face; one of dumbfounded, pure joy.

Yet, the mirrored reaction they hoped for never came. Instead, the smile that had begun to flicker upon her was dashed to the floor halfway through it's rise. Her expression turned cold; some would say even heartless, but the two knew Clementine; they knew that buried within the cold demeanour was the warmth they had so dearly missed.

"You're alive." She said, her voice shaken and yet her demeanour remained calm.

"You're alive!" Kenny, not bothering to hide his excitement, had a grin the size of Texas slathered all over his face. His body — every inch of it — screamed in joy. "We thought we'd never see you again!"

Clementine remained silent, her expression a mesh of confusion and solemn remorse. Considering they hadn't seen her in what felt like eternities, her growth spurt clearly having come and gone, Lee had to admit he would have expected a different reaction.

His thought were dashed, however, hearing faint footsteps approach from behind the girl. At first on edge, the two relaxed as the stranger seemed to have a connection with her.

"Clem...?" Javier paused, stunned as he studied the two strangers. Clementine didn't show any signs of peril, but something about the way she stood, shoulders curled in and chest tight, gave the caretaker a moment of pause. His eyebrows knitted, taking a protective step forward, speaking to the child without looking. "Who are these guys?"

Silence hung in the air, so long that Lee and Kenny debated whether they should just introduce themselves, but Clementine eventually parted to speak. "Two from my old group."

Javi's expression went through a transformation of protective, to surprised, to angered, his eyebrows doing the speaking for him. "The two that left you?"

The moment the phrase escaped, the two men's jaws dropped.

Clementine's brows clenched defensively, as if prepping herself for an argument amongst the three. "Yes."

Before the two had a chance to explain, Javi started forwards, a resentful snarl dancing across every feature he possessed.

"Javi--" Clementine hardly had a chance to speak before scurrying sounded behind her, causing her to flip in panicked horror.

Gabe, jogging up to the girl, lifted his hands in innocence. "It's only me." He said softly, hoping to set the clearly-tense girl at ease. His brows were knit in a fit of concern, confused as to why she seemed so antsy. "What's going on? Javi left pretty quick." He turned, gaze now settling against the two strangers and his uncle who continued to grow dangerously close. "Who are these guys? Did they hurt you?"
