Clementine squinted, staring down the male before speaking. "No."

"No?"

"Yes, no." Clementine stated, her crossed arms tightening. "I don't want to do that. I'm not interested."

"Why not?" Javier scoffed, hands extended at his sides, appalled by the teen's lack of cooperation. "You're telling me you're okay with wearing the same clothes you've been wearing for months?"

"Yes." She stated plainly, shrugging. "I've broken them in. I like them."

"They've never been washed. Ever."

Clementine scrunched her nose to the side, once again shrugging her shoulders. Javi dropped his jaw. Never once when he offered Mariana or Kate a new set of clothes had they ever passed. Even Gabe, one of the more 'roughing it' members of the family, graciously accepted new clothes at any given chance. After all, who knew when they would get the chance again?

Finally, almost too quickly, Javi's gaze softened and his shoulders fell. "Alright. Your choice."

Clementine raised her brow, pleasantly surprised at how easily he dropped the subject. Turning, her arms still folded into themselves, she started away to tend to her daily Richmond chores.

Javi's calm stare moulded into a smirk as he watched her saunter away. As if he was going to drop the subject. As if he ever did. "Let's go, Gabe."

Gabe, perking from where he was against an alleyway wall finding empty transport bags, squinted. "What?"

Javi waved his hand for the teen to come closer. "Come on, we're going clothing hunting."

The teen's nose scrunched. "Since when am I coming with you?"

Javi sighed, his shoulders sagging in disappointment at the teen's lack of a go-to attitude. "Will you please just come help me pick out something for Clementine?"

At the mention of the girl's name, Gabe's back straightened, snapping to attention. Seemingly embarrassed that said movement prompted an eyebrow raise from his uncle, he tried melting his shoulders back into himself. "Well, I mean, I guess if you need extra hands I can come."

Javi, standing silent, merely smirked. He pat his nephew on the shoulder, choosing to not comment on the pink flush in his cheeks. "Let's see what we can find."

The reason Javi asked about clothing to begin with was that, in the process of cleaning out Richmond's unutilized buildings, they'd found a storage unit filled with untouched clothing — clearly from a move that had been abandoned. Seeing as Javi and Kate had been the ones to stumble across it, they had first dibs on clothing before the unit became public knowledge and the rest of Richmond was able to swipe some.

Thanks to this, there was no way in hell Javier Garcia was about to let any member of his family walk away from such a golden opportunity without snagging something for themselves — including Clementine.

If she refused to pick them out herself, he would need to pick them out for her.

In a matter of minutes, Javi and Gabe were inside the small unit, surrounded by piles of open boxes waiting to be rummaged through. Kate had passed through earlier that day, grabbing what she wanted from the stacks. David passed through with her, only leaving with one new jacket. Seeing as Javier and Gabe were the first ones to rummage about the day before, now was the time to focus entirely on Clementine.
