Looking left, then looking right, Luke gently smacked the child on her left shoulder. "Let's roll."

Clementine, despite the slight jolt to her body, maintained in her stunned demeanor. "Why are we sneaking out?"

"Because if Kenny sees us, he'll kill me." Luke claimed, holding the glass door open for the child to emerge. "You were supposed to be in bed an hour ago."

Clementine slipped out of the passage, the front doors of the ski lodge clicking shut behind her — quietly so thanks to Luke's slow movements. The instant it was closed, now a new glass barrier between her and the rest of their group, the child turned to her guide. "What are we doing?"

Luke smirked, already starting for the stairs off the front deck. "I'm gonna teach you how to fight."

Clem raised a brow, hesitantly following him. "I already know how to fight." She glanced around, trotting alongside the edge of the lodge behind him. "And where are we going?"

Luke chuckled. "Earlier today, when I was wrestling with Nick, Sarah burst in and asked if we were ever going to teach her how to throw a decent punch." He paused, running a hand over his chin. "Carlos hated the idea, but I really loved it. I knew you would never pass up a lesson, and since I couldn't teach her, I figured we'd expand on your fighting moves."

Clementine, at first, didn't respond. After a moment of silence, the two rounding the back corner of the lodge, she spoke again. "And where are we going?"

Luke turned around, shooting her a smirk. "The roof."

A few paces ahead, there was a ladder attached to the side of the building. It was metal, drilled into the side of the worn brick wall.

"Why?" Clementine asked, drawing closer.

Luke, while leaning against one side of the ladder waiting for Clementine to climb, shrugged. "Well we can't do it inside and wake people up, but we also can't do it outside thanks to walkers." He smirked. "So the roof is our best bet."

Clementine, before hiking herself up on the first few rungs, rolled her eyes. "You just like being as risky as possible."

"Heeey, stop killing the fun."

Clementine chuckled as she started her way up, huffing as she pushed herself up the rungs. It was hard to imagine that the last time she was hiking up a ladder this tall, Luke had been behind her, assured her he wouldn't let her fall.

Thinking of such, she hesitated. Her fingers tightened their still holds on the bar. All that was left was silence. As she began to turn, wanting to see how far she was from the ground, he spoke.

"Don't worry Clem," he called, his voice gentle. "I'm not gonna let you fall."

The words, so familiar yet so calming, eased the tension in her shoulders. With a deep breath, bracing herself to continue, she pushed on.

As she reached the top, scrambling to throw herself off the ladder, she could hear the familiar sound of rubber on metal clank behind her. In a matter of moments, Luke was at her side.

Meekly, Clementine shrugged. "So, where do we start?"

Luke hummed, hands planted against his hips, staring off into the night. "I really should have figured that out before we came up here."
