"Dude. Everyone knows."

Marlon groaned, flailing his arms in dismissal at Louis' words. "No they don't. You're just saying that to try to make me feel better." How backwards was it that assuring him that everyone already knew about his crush on Clementine was the only thing that was going to calm his nerves? He knew it was backwards, and he knew the extent of his panic was ridiculously unnecessary, but Marlon couldn't help it. Clementine was worth freaking out over.

Footsteps resonating from the hall stopped and pivoted to face the doorway sound was bubbling from—namely, their room. Mitch, peeking his head into the door frame of Ericson's head office, furrowed his brows at the sight before him: Marlon nervously pacing, and Louis lounging on his desk.

"Clementine." Louis said.

"Oh," Mitch claimed with a shrug. "Everyone knows about that dude, don't stress about it."

Marlon scoffed, rolling his fingers through his hair. "Cool, whatever, so what that everybody knows? That doesn't help me figure out how I'm supposed to tell her."

Mitch blinked in surprise, eyes widening as he drew deeper into the room and sat beside Louis propped on the desk. "Oh, that's what we're talking about."

Louis shrugged. "I mean, maybe she already knows. Everyone else does."

Marlon blinked. "That helps not at all. In fact, I think that makes it worse."

Louis' hopeful shoulders fell.

"I mean, does it? If she already knows, she hasn't said anything to you." Mitch offered, brushing his dirty hands against his pants. "She hasn't told you she isn't interested, and Lord knows that Clementine doesn't shy away from confrontation."

Marlon clenched and unclenched his fists, shifting between encouraging himself to go through with formulating a plan and telling himself to not bother. "But her knowing and not saying anything to me could also be a bad sign."

"Maybe she wants you to make the first move?"

"Why?" Marlon scoffed, whipping around, detaching his fingers from tugging at his hair.

Louis propelled himself of the desk, wandering over to where his extensively distraught friend was pacing the room. "I mean, everyone knows that you like her. People don't know if she likes you, though. Maybe she wants to see if you're willing to go the extra mile and found out?"

"Or maybe she just wants to see how you'd ask her out?" Mitch suggested.

Louis jetted his finger toward him. "That too."

Marlon groaned, wandering over to the desk, following Louis' lead. "It's clear that I need to do something, and I need to be the one to make the first move, but I don't know," he hesitated, scratching at his chin.

Mitch and Louis both raised their eyebrows. They glanced at each other before back at Marlon, confused as to what his delay was.

"How." He finished.

Mitch and Louis' shoulders heaved. The boy was truly hopeless.

"Marlon, just ask her." Mitch scoffed, waving his arms. "Ask if she wants to go on a date with you at the very least. I can promise you, she'll be interested."
