Clementine and Lee
An idea suggested by Anonymous. This takes place in the second season. Clementine has a dream that Lee comes back to speak to her and gives her words of hope.
Clementine sat patiently, staring at the photograph of Lee in her hand. It was torn of course, the whole right hand side of the photo had been ripped, just like he had been ripped away from her.
She sighed, sliding the note onto her nightstand of her ski lodge temporary bedroom. It wasn’t very big. Luke and her were supposed to share a room, except Luke was still downstairs even at this late hour talking and forming plans with the others.
Which left Clementine alone to her thoughts.
She could hear a gentle tapping at the door and sighed. “Luke? You don’t need to knock, you can just come right in.” Her eyes didn’t shift from her nightstand however, staring at the one thing she had left to remember Lee by.
The wooden door creaked open, and the floorboards creaked under the weight of whomever was entering her room.
“Luke, are you going to—” Clementine froze, staring at the dark figure before her. “L-Lee?” Her voice cracked as she spoke, staring at her friend in disbelief.
Lee gave a warm smile. He was still wearing his same old blue, tattered shirt and jeans. Both arms were in tact, and one of them rested against his hip. “Hey, sweet pea.” He said softly, his gruff voice still the same as when he had left her.
Clementine didn’t need an explanation. Hell, she didn’t want one. She just threw herself into his arms, crumbling down onto the floor and pulling him down with her. “Lee, I thought you were dead.” She sniffled, rubbed her eyes against his dirty shirt.
“Yeah, Clem. The important thing is that I’m here now, ok? And I need you to listen to me.” Both of his arms were hugging her tightly, refusing to let go as they were finally reunited again.
“Ok.” She whispered, pulling away and rubbing under her eyes.
“You’ve been doing good without me.”
“Not as good as when I was with you.” She countered, a small laugh escaping her lips. She had never been able to laugh the same since he had left.
“Clem, you’re taking great care of everyone here. They need you.” He said seriously, but a small smile still grazed his lips.
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“They do. You’re protecting them; helping them get through this thing. That’s the best thing a person can do during all this.”
Clementine chose not to speak, only to nod. She wanted to hear his voice as long as possible.
“But Clem, just remember to be patient with people, and to be careful with who you trust.”
“Why do you say that? Do you think some people here aren’t trustworthy?”
Lee gave a hearty laugh. “No, sweet pea. You have Kenny here and I’m sure he’s going to take great care of you.” He gave a warm smile before continuing. “Just remember that if anyone seems suspicious to you, get out of there. I don’t want anything happening to you.”
Clementine gave a sad smile and nodded. “I promise, Lee.”
He wrapped his arms around her once more and placed a gentle kiss on the crown of her head. “I’m so proud of you, sweet pea.”
After a short moment of sweet silence Clementine’s voice filled the air.
“I love you, Lee.”
Lee smiled. “I love you too, Clem.”
But suddenly, everything went dark. Clementine could no longer feel her friend beside her, holding her in his arms. And then,
She woke up.
