Clementine sighed, kicking a rock down the dirtied pathway her shoes trotted upon. "I hate going on food runs."

Gabe, hands stuffed anxiously into his pockets, raised his eyebrows. "Why?" Watching as the rock fumbled closer to him, he kicked it back. "I thought you jumped at any chance you could to get out of Richmond."

"I do," she said, scratching behind her ear with one hand, the other locked around her stomach, cradling her body. "But when it's mandatory it takes the adventure out of it."

Gabe scoffed. "There can still be adventure in mandatory things."

Clementine turned, raising an eyebrow, arms crossing in front of her chest. "And how's that?"

"You never know what could happen," Gabe claimed with a smirk, shrugging his shoulders and fixating his attention back to the dirt road. "Outside of those walls, anything is possible."

Clementine dismissed the boys claim, squeezing her arms out of boredom as they continued their trek.

They wandered in silence until they hit their destination: an abandoned junkyard. Unlike the one Gabe had come to know previously, this one was known for carrying more junk of substance. It held trailers, tractors, old expansions to houses, busted older cars — all things they could use.

Seeing as the duo were on a food hunt, it seemed like the obvious choice for their first stop.

They slipped into the yard's front gates with ease, seeing as ages ago it had been busted in by the beaten up white truck sitting to the entrance's left. Past the initial hoard of busted cars — already thoroughly rummaged through — the two made their way to the back of the yard.

The back held the items most valuable to them — trailers, truck expansions, and abandoned areas of houses discarded when the apocalypse hit. Unless hoards of other groups had been rummaging through the yard, there had to be something left untouched for the two to bring back.

"Where do we start?" Gabe asked, his hands rubbing anxiously against his legs. Despite partnering with Clementine — a girl fuelled by adventure — Gabe was the exact opposite. Being outside of Richmond sent chills up his spine.

Of course, he wasn't about to send Clementine out on her own. So he sucked up his fear and hit the ground running when she was on her bitter way out the gates.

Clementine hummed, hands planted on her hips as she surveyed the scene. Finally, jetting a toward an abandoned trailer, she gestured to the door still locked shut. "That seems like a good place to start."

The girl at first tried to door handle. Met with confirmation of her assumption, she removed her large pick from her backpack and slammed it into the edge of the door.

"Woah, Clem!"

"Nobody's been in here yet," she groaned out, forcing all her energy into trying to pry the door open. "Which means there has to be something in here worth taking."

Gabe paused behind her, his outstretched hands falling to his sides. After a moment of silence, the male turned toward the rest of the trailer, seeing if there was any other way they could force themselves inside.
